  1. i dunno where you are but here in sunny FL the state tried to subpeona Rush Limbaugh's medical records in an attempt to charge him w/ Dr. Hopping the state said nope - you can't have access to those records.... when governer bush's daughter was accused of stea;ing drugs and bringing them in to court ordered drug treatment the state ruled that the treatment center did not have to divulge what happened... well - that gives me hope for you! listen, just because someone makes a mistake while under the influence doesn't make him or her a bad person for life but some people that want to brand us that way. Just pray for serenity...
  2. gen chem was a lot like my first semester of biology. There is no way the professor can teach you all of the concepts of chemistry - there just isn't time. So, what I did for chemistry was: read ahead so when the Prof lectures on it you already have some exposure to the topic, read soon after the lecture, annotate the chapters (i did this for biology - hated doing it but got an "A"), and then practice practice practice. Good Luck!
  3. spinecnor, i know in our senior year we will have an opportunity to do a preceptorship & i automatically assumed we got to pick our place, but i was talking to a senior and she said that a) there might not be an available slot in that area or b) the faculty may decide that my choice is not a "good match" and assign us somewhere else! i'm not too worried about available slots - as not one person in our class of 93 wants or nursing.... anyhow, i will goto an or preceptor if i can
  4. hi all... i have recently taken to the idea of OR nursing...i am still in school and basically just toying with ideas - but i really like the idea of OR nursing... anyhow, a friend of mine has a relative that works for a HUGE healthcare organization here in FL that owns many hospitals... so, this person (an administrator - not a nurse) told my friend that OR nursing is THE WORST specialty in the hospital - mainly because of how the Surgeons treat the nurses... i find this hard to believe - if you are prepared and competent...but maybe i'm naive:D (i mean i know that there are MDs that treat nurses like C&@% but is it rampant in the OR?) also, if you are an OR nurse, are you able to work night shifts/weekends? or are the shifts mainly weekdays?
  5. yes!!!!!! for me, this has been true all throughout school! if the prof wants you to be successful then s/he will be willing to help...if the prof is just into proving how superior they are to you and how you could never comprhend the complex material they are presenting then you better run - 'cause they aren't gonna be very helpful... i have found the latter to be true especially w/ chem/bio types...i am probably making an overgeneralization there, tho... good luck!
  6. yup! you will use it and use it! i'm also using it in Health and Physical Assessment... good luck to all!
