Testing out of CNA exam???
My school did not require the CNA to apply to the program. Most of the girls in my class already have the CNA except for me. I did excellent in the class. I've never had a problem in the clinical setting or with skill check offs. All of the skills will come to you. I'd say do what's best for you.

Graduate programs
I apologize. I just reread my original post and it's very vague huh? I know I want to do advanced nursing to some degree. I'm leaning towards Women's Health, Midwife, or maybe even pediatric. Are there any programs you can think of that will allow an RN with a non-nursing bachelor degree to bridge into one of these programs? I have found some schools that will allow me to bridge into their MSN program. Bellarmine will allow me into the MSN or MSN/MBA program after completing 6 classes. Is it to my benefit to do that and then go to a NP or CNM program? I'm not necessarily wanting to stay in KY(though my parents would prefer it).

Graduate programs
Do any of you know anything about the graduate programs in Kentucky. Which programs have the best reputation with students? I am currently working towards becoming a nurse. I currently have a bachelors degree and I've found that due to this I can go directly into a masters program. I'm starting to look a head and just want some input.

friend taking weight loss pills, I'm concerned
I am currently on Phentermine. I have had fantastic results and I am feeling great. At the same time, my doctor has been very strict regarding what she expects of me on this medication. I don't know if this is common practice, but my doctor requires me to visit on a weekly basis. At this visit I get an evaluation, I am weighed and she decides if she believes it's in my best interest or if it's not to keep me on the medication. In the instances where I can't visit every week, we've worked out a deal where i call to report my BP 3 times per week. Prior to beginning the medication I spoke with my doctor about the side effects. For the most part, hypertension , palpitations , tachycardia are the heart conditions related to this medication. Hypertension is the most common. The FDA does not approve the used of Phentermine in conjunction with fenfluramine (FEN-PHEN); however, use of the medication separately is approved. It sounds like your friend needs to discuss things with her doctor. If the medication is really causing heart problems, that she didn't experience previously, it's worth mentioning. Good Luck

Nursing School ?'s
https://www.excelsior.edu/ This program is completely online. From what I understand, you purchase the books, read and study, and then pay $200 to take the exam when you're ready. You can retake the exam up to 6X. If you take each exam once and add in other charges from teh school, the entire degree will cost you $5,000. This is the associate program; however, you can get that and then get the BSN after. They are accredited and they have a high NCLEX pass rate. -Good luck

Pathophysiology, A & P, Microbiology, Fluid & Electrolyte Resources
I'm sure you've already had the exam on Fluids & Electrolytes, so this may not be helpful but there are two ways I got through the F&E section: "Fluids & Electrolytes: Made Incredibly Easy" "Fluids, Electrolytes & Acid-Base Balance: Reviews and Rationales" These two books are incredible. My instructors are not very good teachers. They can't explain the concepts simply enough. Those books have pictures and mneumonic devices, etc. They also offer pratice questions. The Reviews and Rationale Book is part of a series. Each book is a different area of nursing. They're only around $20 each and they review the material, offer questions in the text and on cd. I have 4 of the books from the series so far and I would recommend them!
