Neighborhood for a Nurse
Hi! If I were to work at UPMC Presbyterian, what neighborhood would you recommend that's reasonable to live in on an RN's salary? Are Squirrel Hill and Shadyside close enough and affordable? I'll be looking for 1 bedrooms - and of course I'm wanting to live somewhere safe! Thanks!

Can you endorse to two different states at the same time?
Situations out of my control will determine if I will be endorsing my California RN license either to Oregon or to Pennsylvania. I know it can take around 3 months for the endorsement process, and in the meantime I'd like to get the ball rolling sooner than later. Can I endorse to two states at the same time? Did you have your new job set up before you endorsed or did you find it easier to endorse and then apply for a new job? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Is night shift a good learning environment?
Wow, thanks for all the great advice guys! I should be interviewing for the position next week. Wish me luck. :) I'm looking forward to learning a lot - I know I have a long way to go... I feel fortunate to have found a supportive community here. Gallee

Is night shift a good learning environment?
Hello, I'm considering applying for a position in a new grad nursing program. However, I believe the position available in telemetry is full time night shift with a day for classes. My concern is that the doctors won't be there nights writing/giving orders, so I won't learn as much? Or I'm wondering if a newbie would feel better in night shift because there are less extraneous diversions versus day shift? Would a newbie be better off starting in day shift? I'd appreciate any of your opinions, thanks!

Hi justmejaime - I'm sure that the delay with your license has been the missing SS#. And yes, my cousin did see his name up there on the CA BON website that soon after taking his test. And I've just discovered my name has been on the site since the 30th, two days after my testing date of the 28th! Why didn't I find it there? I just got my license in the mail yesterday - with the last letter of my last name missing. That's why! Wow, I've been freaking out over a simple misspelling this whole time. So now I just have to take care of paperwork to fix that error. But I passed, yay!

Hi guys, first time poster here. :) My experience is similar to yours, I took the NCLEX last Wed., March 28th, and haven't seen myself on the California BON website either. I got lots of priority, meds, select all that apply, calculations... a real mixed bag of tough questions and it shut off at 75. My cousin took his exam on Thurs., March 29th, and he saw his name on the CA BON website yesterday afternoon. This makes me very anxious. I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping all the time. Waiting to get official results is killing me!
