Dr. orders or nursing judgement???
- Dr. orders or nursing judgement???
There is not a written protocal. I go to a local community college and we do clinical at all of the local hospitals. There are six hospitals that we go to. I just think in nursing school we should go by the standard orders and when we go to work somewhere we go by hospital protocal.- Dr. orders or nursing judgement???
should I argue then with the question that I got wrong b/c I said I would need to call the Dr. instead of starting IV without one.- Dr. orders or nursing judgement???
I'm in 3rd semester nursing and I'm having trouble determing what we need to get a physician order for or what a nurse can do on her own. I had test a Friday and this was 2 questions that I had missed. 1. Pt has TPN infusing single lumen port and Dr. orders say to give Digoxin IVP now. I can always get it down the 2 Possible choices 1. start peripheral line 2. call Dr. The answer was to start line, but I thought I would need to get an order for this. 2. Pt is in shock (I think it was hypovolemic) Dr. orders Lactated Ringers. Do you: 1. call Dr. for rate or 2. start the lactated ringer. I put to start it. I prob. read to much into the question b/c I was thinking I was just started but not fast while I was calling Dr. b/c this poor guy needs some volume. Is there any unwriten rules that I need to know when making these judgement calls in nursing and for nursing school test!!! Thanks ahead of time for any info.- Drug Calc problem, Help??
thanks everyone for your help. These questions have not been like any other sample problems or anything we have even done in class (I'm going in 2nd week of 2nd semester). Last minute Friday they handed these out. I'm not sure any will even be on our test like these. And yes I think we would have hurt a lot of peopl if we were given the examples of medication doses that are in our Drug calculation module. One of my biggest gripes has been that the answers do not make since. Ex. Give 0.67 scored cap. Thanks again for your help!!:)- Drug Calc problem, Help??
Please help with these problems. They are on a review sheet that I don't have the key for. My test is tomarrow, any help greatly appreciated. 1. D5W 500 ml with 10,000 U Heparin. You will set the infusion pump at _________? 3. THe order reads: Heparin 1500 U. in 500 ml NSS to run at 120 u/hr. The flow rate is _________ ml/hr. 4. The physician orders D5W at 5 ml/hr. THe 500 ml bag was hung at 12 noon. THe drop factor is 15 gtts/ml. What time should the IV be finished. Thanks for any help..- Do most pass NCLEX the first time?
You sound like me. Always stressing about test, but then end up doing fine. I bet you will be okay. You are a good student or you wouldn't have made good grades, and came from a good school or it wouldn't have such a high pass rate. Just relax (but do study) just don't drive yourself mad. Anyway you haven't even taking it one time. I know how you feel about test because they have can determine so much.- Blood Pressure Cuff
It is strongly recommended that we buy blood pressure cuff. Well I ordered one from the school uniform guy and it was $28.00. I still have to buy shoes and saw one at allhearts.com for around $15. The person selling things at school was real intimidating. He was like here you need this, this, and this. I did manage to get away without buying shoes. How often am I going to use my own blood pressuer cuff and do you think a cheap one is okay? I think I have 10 days to cancel my order with that company.- I hate A&P!!!!!!
I think A&P I was a lot harder than A&P II. I only studied a fraction of the time. I had to get a letter of recomendation from the teacher (got it today) and found out I had the highest average in class and there were only 2 other A's. I really learned how to study in A&P I. It has helped me with everything else because nothing has compared to it (yet). Goodluck!! You will be so proud of yourself when you get out.- Hospital pays for education?
I am talking with a hospital locally (all of the hospitals in our area will) for every semester they pay for (up to $1500. a sem.) I in-return work for them 6 months. I start RN School in Jan. Yesterday I went to info. session that my school offers. They also told us about a Rural health Scholarship, as long as you work in rural area. Basically anywhere that is not in major city limits. Out of 9 hospitals in my area only 3 are in city limits. Hope this helps. Just call local hospitals and ask for the nurse recruiter. Oh, and if I don't like the hospital where I am working all I have to do is pay them back!! Doesn't sound too bad to me. - Dr. orders or nursing judgement???
