Bay Area Nursing
Hi, I am a new nurse in PA, working in tele. We are thinking of returning to N Cal next summer (Moved back to PA from San Ramon 5 yrs ago, I was not an RN when I lived there before). I am familiar with the commuting and the cost of living including the housing. 1) What are Bay area starting salaries are running for an RN with 1 yr experience-I would be interested in Tele or Cardiac ICU. I am interested in San Ramon area as well as Menlo Park area. 2) Do most of the N Cal hospitals have nurses unions? Pros/Cons? Any other info you are willing to pass along would be appreciated. Thanks W

Experience required for Hospice RN
Wow, andre, yes our situations are similar. I was also a unit secretary for 5 years on telemetry before my RN as well. That experiemce helped me immensely for nursing. Thanks for the reply.

Experience required for Hospice RN
HI, I am a new RN currently working on a telemetry unit. My love is and always will be Hospice. What is the requirement for employment as a Hospice nurse? I understand that Med/Surg or Oncology would probably be ideal, but was hired in Telemetry as that is where I have been employed pre-RN for the last 5 years. Aby hope of getting into Hospice right out of telemetry, and if so, how many years of experience will they want first? Thanks so much for the advice, and I love reading your forum.

Palliative sedation position paper
Thanks so much for the above replies. PS only makes sense to me, I don't understand why there is an ethical debate over this.... who are the people that debate this issue and why do they feel it is not appropriate?

Palliative sedation position paper
Hi, I am doing a position paper on the topic of Palliative sedation.....do you feel this is an ethical practice or a form of euthanasia? Are you comfortable caring for a patient who has been given palliative sedation? Are there family issues to think about? Any and all comments are welcome. Thanks, D
