Need4Speed-- thank you for all of the info and assistance. I just in processed with my unit, and still waiting to get in touch with the training NCO. I figured out today how to enroll for phase 1. I'm going to try it at home tonight; I will let you know if I have difficulty. And, yes, I just got my AKO account last week and I am red all over the place. I hope to get that fixed over the next few months. I start BA in May. Lot of stuff to do, including getting my family in DEERS, etc. Thank you! Maura

Wow, did not realize it would take so long to get orders to go to BOLC. I was just inprocessed to my TPU and will start drilling in May after an excused absence for April drill. My training NCO has not gotten back to me regarding training/courses. I was hoping to head down this fall to do Phase 2. I am looking forward to hearing from you two regarding your experience. Thanks, Lunah! I have seen those boots listed, but they always list the caveat of not being approved. It has made me nervous to try them. I may give them a shot. Maura

I have already commissioned. This is a sign on bonus that is provided upfront to nurse anesthetists. I am not as concerned about when I receive the money; although it was told to me repeatedly that I receive it upon commissioning when all of the paperwork is finished. Someone on this board asked if people had received orders yet, and I was making it known that although I have already commissioned, and HRC has requested that my orders be sent, I have yet to receive them. When questioning my recruiter on timing, he stated I should receive the bonus prior to my orders. BTW, there are combat boots made for women. They just don't have them local to me. I ordered some online. The men's boots were either too narrow or too wide in the heel. I will see if I have better luck with a women's boot. Lizzardmommy--that base is too far north for me to drive too. I would be better off heading to Detroit or Chicago. A fellow reservist here said just to order online or go to Selfridge. No, I get my bonus before BOLC. This has been repeatedly asked and answered. It's a sign on bonus. I just would be surprised to get it before my orders.On another note: I am looking for places to go and try on women's combat boots. My local army surplus only had men's styles, and nothing fit. I hate to order over the Internet and then need to send back. I have a hard time fitting shoes. I live in Michigan. Thanks!

If you remember, I am joining the reseves as a 66F. I still have not received my orders either. My recruiter said they have been requested, so I just have to sit and wait. He said I should actually receive my bonus money before my orders, which I find strange, but I will be happy to get either. I have been reluctant to start purchasing too much of the uniform before I receive official notice. Good luck to all of those going to BOLC. I will not be attending until the fall.

Well, my age in grade waiver finally went through. I commissioned today and am now a member of the Reserves as a 66F (pending all the background checks, security clearances, etc.). Hope that those who are waiting hear something soon.

I see now that u said wait, not waiver. I think you are fine. You are in, they just have to do paperwork. They wouldn't bother if you weren't selected. Unless there is some huge hiccup with your security since I do not know your personal situation, I would not worry.

Lizzardmommy,I would take it as it states. You were selected, pending waiver. I am also selected pending waiver. Mine is just an Age in Grade waiver for being "too old" for my assigned officer grade. Once the waivers are in then we will be set to commission. My recruiter said my waiver would take about a week, not including this holiday week. So I expect to commission next week or the week after. Thank you. I graduated from the number 3 school for nurse anesthesia, but I know the training pales in comparison to what I would've learned had I gone the Army route from the get go. But life choices get in the way, and the military was not an option at that time.

Yes, I know a great deal about Rush, as I am about to graduate from their accelerated BSN program. Rush does have a scholarship program for BSN students in which they will pay your tuition in return for working at the medical center on a unit in need. The accelerated (4-quarter) students must work for 2 years; the regular 7-quarter students work for 3 years. You need to apply for the scholarship and attend an interview. Near the end of your program they will provide with a list of units and the number of positions open on each. You decide which units you want to interview. You are guaranteed to be placed on a unit, but may not be your first choice. Hope that helps!
