Calculation problem
Could someone please tell me how to do this calculation. "A resident is ordered 15mg/ml of morphine, 10mg/ml of maxalon and normal saline, to be made up in 10ml syringe over a 24 hour period. Calculate the amount of drug and normal saline that would need to be prepared. Syringe Drivers - Terumo 10ml syringe=9.4ml equals stroke length of 48mm. What is the total morphine volume, total volume of maxalon, total vol of normal saline and what is the total volume to prepare in the syringe" many:bow: thanks - just starting this calculations stuff.

BSL low - do you still give insulin?
If a patient normally has actrapid and protophane insulin - and her blood sugar levels are often unstable - and her reading is 1.3 mmols, what's the most appropriate response... give the insulin, if so which one or both or don't give any? (hypothetical question)

Brisbane RN's
I'm not working as an RN yet - as I am doing a re-entry course, but when I'm finished I plan to return to aged care where I spent my nursing days many years ago. I would love to hear about your experiences, where you work, what you do etc, what the staff are like and whether you'd recommend working there. Regards BlueCap

Ethical question
If a patient is admited to hospital and indicates to the RN that they are HIV positive - but it is not recorded in the patient's charts and the patient asks the RN not to disclose this information to anyone (because of previous discriminatory practices against her) - what is the position of the RN from an ethical and legal position?
