  1. Did he raise his eyebrows and look at you kind of funny like he was saying, "Are you sure that's the answer you want to give?" My stomach fell in direct proportion to how high he raised his eyebrows!
  2. That's right around the same amount the other person had said too. I thought the total for tuition and supplies was more around the 80K range. I feel like I just got a 25K bonus! Now to just get through that interview!
  3. Hi, NMB IVP. Thanks for the PM. Apparently I don't have the ability to respond to a PM...maybe because I haven't posted that much. Anyway, your reply definitely calmed a few of the butterflies I'm experiencing. Can you or any of your fellow Samford classmates tell me what Samford is quoting as the total cost of their program/books/etc? I thought I knew, but someone I spoke with recently quoted a $ amount that was a good bit lower than I had anticipated. Thanks!
  4. I interview at Samford 8/28 also. I was really hoping someone would answer your question so I could get some tips too. When you read through all of the posts here about Samford interviews it gets a little confusing. Some people say there are a lot of clinical questions and some say there aren't any. I guess we'll find out Thursday. Are you as nervous as I am? The closer the day gets, the more nauseated I feel. I just hope I don't get in there and barf everywhere!
  5. Someone I worked with did it. She had some family land that she sold and she lived off the proceeds of that. Not quite the same as saving up the money, but great to complete school not owing anything!
  6. I don't think you have to spend the money for a course. I used several different review books and I scored 1450. Just give yourself enough time to study. I searched everywhere I could for GRE vocab words, made index cards, and studied until I knew all of them. There was only 1 vocab word on the test that I wasn't sure of the meaning and I was able to figure it out from the context of the sentence. Studying is the key. JFK6668....do you really think the GRE score weighs that heavily? I knew it was important that I scored well, but I basically just saw it as one more requirement I could check off. I guess I've always thought the GPA and work experience were more important. I've tried to put myself in the best position I possibly could with all of the hoops they want you to jump through. My GPA is 3.95/3.91 with the different ways they calculate it, my GRE is 1450, and I've busted my butt in a super busy Level One ICU for two years. I'm sending in applications now with my fingers crossed!
  7. Unless UAB's advanced patho class has changed within the last year, it isn't just for students accepted to the nurse anesthesia program. Someone I worked with a year ago was taking it to try to improve her chances for acceptance to UAB after failing to be accepted two years in a row.
  8. UAB has an online advanced patho class.
  9. I'm applying to UAB this fall. If I don't make it there then I'm applying to Samford, Union, UTC, and CAMC next year.
  10. For all you CRNA's...do you miss the pace of ICU? I love staying so busy that 5 or 6 hours have passed before I even get a chance to glance at a clock. They know to give me the sickest patients with the most lines, drips, vent, etc because I want to stay running from the time I walk through the door until I leave. How does the OR compare?
