Mayo clinic or Scottsdale healthcare system?
Not to get off the subject, but concerning Magnet Status, I hope it is getting harder. I worked at a facility where it was so bad, their turnover rate was enormous, and still is. Yep. They received Magnet Status when I was there. Now there is another hospital in the area that got it also. Shocking. It has made a lot of nurses in our area feel that having said status is no big deal when these hospitals can get it. What a shame. Also. White uniforms might be a real pain to keep white, get out stains etc. but if someone wants to know who the nurses are, they can tell. In our area, you can have an aide, a nurse, cleaning staff, etc. all in the hall and the patients and family members don't know one from the other. We were informed a long time ago that the facility does not want the patients to know who is doing what to them, since some would be very upset knowing that most of the staff can now draw blood etc. Saves money, but the patient does not get a break in costs. Nough said. Have a nice evening. :loveya:

How much math is in nursing school??????
when i went for my bsn at the university, we were instructed to purchase a great math book, math for meds, and although a little pricey, i was so impressed with it. this is one book where you can actually teach yourself. i actually found it fun to learn medical-type math. this is only my opinion. i teach math to ma and lpn students and am quite disappointed in all the math books the students have been provided in utilizing today. they get so frustrated and the books have so many errors, that learning is quite stressful for them. you could go on campusi.com to do a price comparison if you are interested. best of luck in all your educational endeavors. ebabsrn

Cannot work as RN where I must ambulate due to knee disorder. What now? I have a BSN.
hello to all. i had my first meniscus tear while in college and as a nurse tech student at a local hospital. i had surgery to cut that section out. i have since tore 2 other areas, while on the floor, which eventually led to bone on bone in both knees. eventually, i had to have bilateral partial knee replacements. the first one went very well, but the second, well, i cannot even ambulate at length. i have been teaching at a vocational school in their adult ed. programs for ma, lpn, etc. for the last 8 years off and on. i want so much to get back into nursing, but where could i go for employment without much floor experience as a rn, and what could i do? teaching only affords me a few hours a week sometimes. it is also shuts down one entire month in the summer. i need to find employment, but would love some type of hands on where i would not have to stand very long. i would really appreciate any assistance in this area of concern. thank you. ebabsrn
