  1. Hey y'all. Don't worry. They were still orienting the last of the groups for this year's clinicals in September, so don't think it means bad news. Sometimes they just bite off more than they can chew and things get delayed. It's a good school and you will be glad when you are in it. I did my undergrad there and now I'm halfway through my BSN-DNP (AGNP with Palliative Care and Nursing Ed.)
  2. Jay, thanks for the info. I am in the BSN-DNP program and I am planning on the three year schedule. Getting excited! Karin
  3. Hey Greer, We are in the same group it seems. Looking forward to meeting you in August! Are you already in Mobile? It sounds like many of the students are coming from different states. I did my undergrad at USA CON and I'm excited about returning for the DNP. The new CON looks great! Karin:nurse:
  4. Hey there...are we gonna be in the same class? Karin
  5. Jay, I'd love to hear how it's going. I am teaching nursing clinicals for two schools and work about 23 hours a week. Think I'll be able to continue and handle the first year of school? I know the clinical hours start in year two so I figure it will be harder to hold a job then. Whatever tips you have I'd love to hear about! Thanks. Karin
  6. I got accepted for BSN to DNP Adult Primary Care with Palliative Care Subspecialty for Fall 2011. I'm so excited. I was nervous because I read on here lots of people were getting turned away. I got in first try so I know it was lucky. My friend tried for MSN NP but was turned away due to too many applicants. I'm glad I decided to go for the DNP. What is your concentration?
  7. Hey there, I just graduated from USA CON. You have a good GPA, but I hope your best grades are in the sciences. If you don't make the Mobile campus, you will be considered for Baldwin if they are still doing things the same way. It is very competitive and a very difficult program. You must decide right away that they are going to have to drag you out if they want you to leave and then dig in and get through it! I don't know how many people they accept for both campuses now, but our starting class was 44. Most of us came in with 4.0 or nearly that and only 11 made it out on time. I know they were trying to keep the new classes around 40. Hope the info helps. Keep working hard and you'll make it. This was the hardest thing I have ever done, but the most rewarding so far. I got a job within a few days of graduating. USA nurses are well sought after. Take care. Karin:nurse:
  8. Hey there. I've been a longtime lurker, but this thread has forced me to post! I am almost finished nursing school (BSN) and I have been an LMT for almost 8 years now. I love being a massage therapist, but as I'm sure you've experienced, you have this sense that you want to do more once you can feel what's going on with them. I figured education was the only way to do that. So far, massage experience has done nothing but help me so far. I find my palpation skills and intuitiveness come into play most often. Nursing school is by far the hardest thing I've ever done, but it is sooooo worth it. Good luck to you. Hope you feel the call to join us. BTW, I still do massage, although on a limited basis now that school is so hectic, but the purpose ultimately is to become a nurse practitioner and use massage in my everyday assessments of patients. I can't see ever giving massage up. Karin:monkeydance:
