Thanks for the replies.....I googled and asked Jeeves too...I've just found out that there are many variables to testing and just come to the conclusion that I need to ask the lab at work......As far as I know we've never done a meconium test....Is that something that is done in hosp and results reported back right away or something that takes awhile to get results? And will IDPH pay for that..?... Kastas says; "Sorry, it makes me so angry!!!! Why do we bother with the UDS or the baby screens? Nothing ever changes." I totally agree with you Kastas....

Hi All......Had another pt last noc that had +uds for cannibiods......Often our pts claim they haven't used drugs during their pregnancy and that the positive results must be from being around those who are..? How likely is this? Can a person have a +cannoboids for being around someone who is smoking it ? I assume if its in her urine, then it'd be in her blood therefore baby would also be affected, even if she's not the one who actually inhaled. And how long would that stay in her system.....if she did smoke it her self? Sorry to be rambling on.......lack of sleep .......:zzzzz Oh ya I work in a sm community hospital, so we don't get alot of +UDS on our pts. So if anyone could just enlighten me or show me the way to get some of these answers..Thanks..I'd appreciate it a bunch!:) I'm gonna try Googling for an answer and maybe ask Jeeves too...
  3. For those who don't use alcohol on the cords....then do you just leave the cord clamp on at discharge? Seems like the cord is still too moist at 24hrs of age (most are being discharged at this age) to take the clamp off.......just wondering...
