  1. Hello all, I am considering moving to Nicaragua. I am an RN,BSN and my primary experience is in a SNF. I am currently an ADON at a SNF/LTC facility. I am interested in a remote (computer based job). I do not have much official experience with MDS billing/coding and this seems to be the bulk of required experience for remote type jobs. I am not CCM certified although I certainly meet the requirements and may get the certification if it helps? I am looking at the possibility of medical transcription and take a course online or at the local C.C. I understand that the transcription jobs do not pay much but i will not require that much (although the more the better). Not sure if remote chart review for an insurance company is possible, once again no official experience with MDS billing other than working with our MDS coordinator to assist them with billing questions. Any input is appreciated. In the end I may have to change my course all together. No matter what happens I plan to volunteer at the local clinics in Nicaragua any way I can to show good will. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thank you! Roscoenurse.
  2. Hello all. I am a BSN with close to 15 years experience (mainly in SNF the last 10 years). I am wanting to transition to the case management side of things (preferably a remote based position). I am currently an ADON / Delegating Nurse at a assisted living facility. I handle chart reviews on a daily basis. I am slated to start an MSN program in leadership and management. I am wondering if this will be useful in pursuing a remote based Case Manager position or if obtaining a CCM certification is a better path? Any advice/input is appreciated. Thanks!
  3. Five years LPN/ Five years RN. I'm going to give it a shot. Thanks.
  4. Hello, I'm sure this is anything but a new topic. I see where the USAF age cut off for nurses is 48. I am a 47 yo, BSN, RN, with 4 years prior active duty Army enlisted. Yes I am interested in returning as a commisioned nurse in the USAF. I have contacted a health care recruiter. My question is: Does anybody have a pulse on the current demand for active duty nurses in the USAF/ other services? I know it fluctuates. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.
  5. Thank you for the replies. I believe that makes the most sense. It's nice to get a second opinion.
  6. Hello all, I am a prior service Army M6 (LPN). I will finish my BSN in December of 2010 and want to go back to the reserves as a BSN. Recruiter said it's competitive and I need 6 months experience as an RN to be boarded. Any advantage to go back enlisted and go the commisioned route internally? Or is it better to just wait the six months and turn in packet? Thanks in advance for any replies.
