Any suggestions for a newbie in Ambulatory Surgery Center?
thank you.im hoping to transition to full time if and when i find an opening. and i think it would be easier if i get experience. most of them dont have any full time openings. I was thinking the same thing -- just the thought of leaving my 3 12-hr shifts and switching to 5 days a week would be hard at first... i got used to having days off during the week..but thinking about the stress at my telemetry med/surg is not worth it.

Can you describe your 12hr 7a-7p shift?what goes on and tips
prolly bec you know you'll get stuck with them for a while and might not get a chance to see how the others are doing / baseline upon coming to your shift..im not sure but i guess it depends how sick they are, are they in distress or not, that's the question.

Can you describe your 12hr 7a-7p shift?what goes on and tips
hi, ill be starting in august in a med/surg floor, can you describe what goes on, what you usually do once you punch in, and describe your daily tasks, and time management, and organization skills until you leave at 7pm? I have about 10mos of experience under my belt, i am currently working at a sub-acute unit/rehab floor at one of the long term care facilities in nj. also, do you think my experience working there will somehow be helpful? thank you very much!! any tips, suggestions and advice will be greatly appreciated.

hi, no you dont since you will be going to nursing school here in US. TOEFL and CGFNS only applies to those who are planning to take the NCLEX but went to school outside of US. hope this helps.

Care plan for pt. with syncope, diabetes, copd and more
you have to start with your ABC, does your patient have a problem with airway? does he have a problem w/ breathing? i would think so since he has a hx of COPD so your 1st dx would probably be ineffective breathing pattern, r/t --- impaired gas exchange. and circulation -- he definitely has a problem w/ circulation because of his syncopal episodes and because of his heart condition he's not perfusing his brain hence the syncope so your 2nd priority dx is impaired tissue perfusion , also due to DM he's not perfusing his extremities very well, as well as his other organs i.e. kidneys, i would think he is experiencing neuropathy, you just have to know your r/t and also due to his CHF yes you're right. the eyesight problem is also due to his DM. so you can also do impaired sensory perception or something about blindness, -- then you go with pain -- i would think since he has athritis that he has chronic pain. then you can put the psych dx depression, etc. hope this helps.

what's it like working at a LTC facility ?
we did! only for 2-3 weeks. clinicals were greatly spent at a hospital. being a student and being an RN fully in charge of your practice IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT IN THE REAL WORLD. if you are not willing to give advice just dont post anything bec i wouldnt ask this question had i known what to expect.

took nclex today 7/25 and got the good pop up...
these were my scores from qtrainer: exam 1 - 61 exam 2 - 68 exam 3 - 62 exam 4 - 63 exam 5 - 66 exam 6 - 66 exam 7 - 66 i wasnt too thrilled but its ok.. whats impt is you study the rationale and try to answer why -- not just taking it face value that it is the answer..its better to remember if you can answer the question "why"..

took nclex today 7/25 and got the good pop up...
i had 75 questions and the computer went blue, i was really praying hard that i wont have a lot of those sata questions coz i was doing so bad with practice questions. i kept missing 2 or atleast 1 and that's it.. God is soo good.. i knew it was too much to ask but i ask anyway, to give me questions that somehow i can figure out or know the answers and he did... most of them were critical thinking, 2 answers are really good but you have to pick the one that's more life threatening..i kept that in mind. i was anxious myself too but let me tell you -- getting atleast a few hours of sleep helps.. relax the night before, they said dont do anything r/t nursing but heck i did..i always do it every exam when i was in nursing school, so i didn't change my routine. i watched my regular sunday show while going over the cards i made during commercials. Prayers are so powerful. i asked my entire family to pray for me, although they didn't know exactly when im taking the exam, i told them the beginning of july to start praying for me .. and ofcourse they're persistent to know when im taking it ..so i told them to say a prayer for me everyday lol.... and also our bible study group prayed for me.... yet another amazing testimony! TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY... but then again, im still waiting for 8am today EST so i can get my official results.

anyone from new jersey who took the nclex ?
just wondering, i took my nclex yesterday, and found my name in board of nursing division of consumer affairs today but it says pending and no license number, does it mean I pass or it doesnt mean anything, only if you have a license number is for sure that I pass.... just going crazy. i did the pvt wth good pop up but still unsure.
