A Little Advice Please!!!!
Hello everyone and Happy New Year!!! It has been awhile sinc I have posted anything on this forum, this has been mainly due to moving into our new home in Canada (Okanagan region) As you can imagine it has been a crazy whirl wind time!!! but now we are settled it is time for me to return to the "Land of working for a living" I have gained employment in our local hospital as a RN working casual and this is not because I am a lazy so and so and I am really enjoying the great out doors (which I do) but more to do with juggling work, three kids, a house and husbands working hours all at the same time, at times I think it would be easier for me to work full time. Anyway I was so excited that all this fell into place and then today I received my contract which states that I will be paid as a first level nurse, this felt like a kick in the teeth!!! has anyone else eperienced this!!! does none of the skills or experience count???? I have coped with starting a new life but to start again with the career again!!!! I am going to be retired before I reach the top of the pay scale. Any advice at all welcome and I would really love any advice at all on the CRNBC exam take mine June, I have the revision guide but the more help and information the better Thank you so much Jossie

A Little advice needed!!!!
Hello everyone and a Happy New Year sent to all!!! It has been a while since I have been on the forum, mainly due to us settling into our new home in Canada....... so now that we are settled it is time for me to return to the land of "work for a living" I have gained employment (casual hours, not because I am a lazy so and so....more to do with three children, no child care and husband has to travel with his work) in the local hospital, which at first i was really happy with until today when i recieved a copy of my contract which states that I will be paid as a first level nurse!!! I have been qualified for 7 years and worked with in the NHS for 10 years is this right!!! do we not get any credit for the years worked, all the experience and skills we have already accumalated, has anyone else found this or does anyone have any advice. It just felt like a big kick in the teeth kinda speaking!!! it is hard enough starting in a new country, with a new life but to have start my career again as a first level nurse just seemed to hurt a little to much!!! I am not getting any younger by the time i hit top pay scale I am going to be ready to claim my retirement!!! All advice very welcome.

Hi I am new - need advice
Hiya everyone I am new to the forum, I have been in Canada for two weeks now!!! I have moved to the Okanagan Valley and really love it here. My only concerns are my career options and at the moment they don't appear to be looking that good. I know it could be due to all my mixed emotions etc.... however my current status is I have completed all the necessary documentation to the CRNBC and I am waiting to hear from them and I have my PR status, I contacted the external recruiter, whom gave me a contact, who is only offering casual work!!! although I know I should be grateful this is work, it also means no benefits and carries no status when applying for mortgages etc, as well as making childcare a nightmare, as most registered care want permanent hours, which I can not commit to. Has anyone else been in this situation??? I have spoke to a retired nurse in this area who has told me this is often the case, that they will only hire on a casual basis!!! so at the moment I am quite bewildered, I had a very good job in the UK with 10 years experience in the NHS, both in the hospital and Community settings. Need some good advice and would love to here from any nurses in the Okanagan area Thank you
