  1. Agency LPNs doing IV Push

Oops! Forgot to add that none of the agencies that I have worked through, or the facilities that I have worked at through them, have ever done any testing of my skills. They just take it for granted that I can do what I say I can. I do have certifi...
  2. Agency LPNs doing IV Push

I work Med-Surg, SNF, and LTC through a local agency. I rotate between 7 to 9 facilities, from floor to floor. I do all IV meds, in fact everything the RNs do on except the initial assessments, as the state of Indiana doesn't allow Lpns to do those...
  3. PICC lines

Sorry about mixing up your name, RNConnieF! Many apologies!!! Too many working hours and not enough sleep, methinks.
  4. PICC lines

Does my heart good to hear that you discharge patients with the PICC still in, ConnieRNF! I work at a subacute Rehab hospital and you wouldn't believe the number of patients we get from the hospitals that have their PICCS, or whatever, yanked. (Hos...
  5. Tucson, AZ

I am actively working with 2 agencies, Renerian, although I have listed with several others. I will be calling other agencies tomorrow to see if I can increase my likelihood of finding a position in the next few weeks! (As well as re-contacting the ...
  6. Tucson, AZ

Hi, Renerian! I am working with Jan Heath at TravStaff, but they tried to connect me to the DON at a facility in Tucson for about 2 months with no luck. First the DON was on vacation for 3 1/2 wks, then the state was in while she was gone. Not sure ...
  7. Tucson, AZ

Good idea, Renarian! I think I will check that out prior to, also, in the future.
  8. Tucson, AZ

Looks like it won't be Tucson anytime soon! (And we were sooo looking forward to it!) The DON from that facility never could be pinned down for an interview with me. Not sure what the problem was, but after talking to the state about the latest su...
  9. Tucson, AZ

Has anyone worked at SunBridge Park Villa in Tucson, AZ? It's a LTC facility that is taking on travelers. Am considering a contract with them. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
  10. Better pay? Flexible hours?

Agency CNAs in this area can make up to $18/hr for weekend shifts. Unbelievable, but true. I worked as an agency CNA while going to LPN school. Loved it and now work as an agency LPN. I recommended it to my sister-in-law while she was in LPN school....
  11. SPECIALTY INFO REQUEST

Hi! I've been doing Rehab Subacute for the past 14 months and love it! I love to watch the rapid improvements patients make, and even more importantly, I love the positive attitudes the patients have! We have brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, hi...
  12. New use for Tylenol?

A lot of people have a low threshold for meds. I see a lot of elderly patients prescribed Tylenol for sleep. (And a few younger ones, too) It wouldn't work for me, but for some 650 mg of Tylenol knocks them out whether they want it to, or not!
  13. SQ injections in emaciated pts

I'm confused! All of the literature I've read, included from the company itself, states that Lovenox injections are to be given ONLY in the abdomen, outside of the 2 inch area surrounding the umbelicus. Where else are you giving them?
  14. Hourly Rate For LPNS

I work in Southern Indiana and started out in LTC out of LPN school 2.5 yrs ago making $16.00/hr. That was pay-in-lieu of benefits, though, and the same as PRN rate but with guaranteed, set hours. That was $3.00/hr more than if I took the benefits....
  15. Agency nurses in LTC settings

The first per diem agency I worked for had no orientation. The one I'm with now has you go into their office and read special folders the facilities put together (on your own time, no pay). You then sign that you read and understood them. The agency...
