  1. I work in a level 3 NICU and I'm wondering what other nicu's do about infection control .When you come on shift, are you allowed to use your own pens, wear a fanny pack w/scrubs to hold pens and what not, bring any other personal articles like covered drinks, notebook, ect? Other than the routine strict handwashing/ purell or avagard, each baby having their own stethescopes and instrument sets, and such, do other units do anything, I don't know - "funky" like rn's can't bring in personal articles like calculators, pens,stuff like that - ( they are provided, however). Just wondering what other standards of practice are out there.
