  1. I know what you mean. Where I work I'm the only nurse on the unit with two aides for 30 residents. Most of the time I ignore the phone and so do the other nurses in the facility. During my med pass I not only answer the phone but handle anything else that comes up. It takes me forever to do a med pass. By the time I finish one it's time for the next one. The thing is----the med pass is the part of the job I like the least. I wish I could breeze through the med pass and get onto treatments, sit down for awhile at the desk to do paperwork, talk to residents, organize things and maybe----just maaaaybe get to supper!

Hi Everyone, I've been a nurse for a lot of years. I love it and hate it at the same time. I love the work I do ----there's just too much of it! If you don't mind I do have a question to put out. I work in a nursing home and I feel like I'm attached to the medcart all night. Even if I start passing meds at 3:30 I'm not done with the first medpass until almost 6! Of course it doesn't help with all of the interruptions and there are always some meds that are missing and I have to leave my unit to go to the e-box. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there anyone out there who has any organizational ideas that would help? I'm on the other side of 50 and I just don't have the energy I used to. Thanks for any help you have to offer.
