LVN-RN 30 unit-option california
Right now I'm looking into LATTC or LAHC, as far as the 30 unit option. I didn't research any other universities as far as the RN to BSN program. CSUDH comes highly recommended and I was going to attend there anyway had I went the traditional route. Is WGU regionally accredited? Will they accept the 30 unit RN license? My hurdle now is finding a job a 6 month LVN. I got my license 2 years ago. I worked for 6 months and then went back to school. Now that I'm done with schol it's really hard finding a job as a "new" LVN graduate.

LVN-RN 30 unit-option california
Good Morning all... as promised I said I would report back with any information that I find. I found out that if you want to further your education, CSU Dominguez Hills will allow you to do so. They have an online RN-BSN program and you need a valid RN license, which the 30 unit option is, NOT an ADN degree along with a few other prerequisites. So if you want to keep going there's life after the 30 unit option!! :) Here's the link: http://csudh.edu/bsn/bsnadmission.html. CSUDH also have a online BSN to MSN program. There is hope for those of us considering this option...just takes some perserverance to find out what you want to know. What I don't know is what the job market would be like for a 30 unit RN. Some employers advertise the applicant to have a valid RN license while others require a graduate from a valid program. If I find out anything else I'll let y'all know... YEAH NURSES!!!!!! :)

I'm in southern California in Los Angeles. The CCs here only have 2 year RN programs and WCU is the only ADN program.

LVN-RN 30 unit-option california
I have all the prerequisites. My problem are the waiting lists.. A group of LVNs were talking about this tonight and someone posed that question. We all laughed but then I got to thinking about what loophooles. The state took away the LVN to RN programs and left us/me with limited options: pay $43-63K depending on how many prerequisites you have and attend West Coast University for the ADN program or wait 2-4 years for a slot to open in the second year of a RN program if a student drops. So frustrating!!! The question was a little extreme but it's the frustration that people come up with that.

Thanks for the information... What if I get the RN license via the 30 option route, have to move to different state. Of course they won't recognize the license so I would have to do the ADN program the long way. Ok so now I have a ADN from VA, for example, and then move back to CA.... since I held a 30 unit option license here, moved got an ADN degree, would the state of CA recognize the license even though I was once licensed as a 30 unit option RN? I will call teh RN board tomorrow with the hope of getting through and will report everything they tell me:)

Funny that I stumbled upon this because I just started considering this option myself. I was going to start tomorrow going around to different community colleges to inquire about the 30 unit option program. I have all my prerequisites completed to be accepted into an ADN program but my problem are the waiting lists; 2-3 years if a seat becomes available in a RN program or I could attend a 64,000 ADN program at WCU...NOT!!! My ultimate education goal is to get a MSN or possibly PhD. Does anybody know if the 30 unit option hinders you from being considered at the university level for entrance into the BSN/MSN progrm? Is there anyone here who went through the 30 unit option and moved out of state? what was your experience? Are there any states that would accept a 30 unit option RN? Thank you in advance for ANY & ALL advice and information. Angela
