  1. The recruiter called and also sent an email
  2. I just called her yesterday to see what the status was. I had to get a DC license, but have yet to be scheduled for anything else. I will follow-up on Tuesday. I can't wait to start, it should be very interesting. What unit are you coming from?
  3. I too, was offered a position. Have you completed all your pre employment requirements, Ive yet to start.
  4. I am a RN/RRT in VA. I made $20/hr when I started in respiratory 4 years ago, so hopefully the going rate is a bit higher now. Be sure to ask if there is any additional compensation if you obtain other certifications like the NPS or AE-C. Both of these will open up additional opportunities for you. Best of luck!
  5. If you are determined, it can be done. i drove 450 miles roundtrip for the past year earn my RRT to RN degree. I worked weekends as a respiratory therapist and left early morning for a 9AM class. I stayed during the week with family, then headed home Thursday afternoon after my last class. I am married with no children. Husband is Navy, so we are used to being apart. But if your goal is to get your RN, it may be well worth it. Good luck!
  6. It sounds like you are on general surgery floor with medical overflow.
  7. Hello All, I have several years experience as an RRT and recently became a RN. My current job as RRT, I work in a special care nursery managing respiratory patients, i.e vents, CPAP, HFNC. We do some shared functions with nursing as well, such as vitals, feedings, etc. We also go to all deliveries via c/s, lady partsl, high and low risk. So my issue is do I stay in this setting as a new nurse or should I go to a general surgery unit where I can hone in on my skills and disease processes. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.
