  1. Thanks you two, I was so happy to see a response. Since my post, I found that the Department of Health has a licensure department, and they will mail you a list of all of the nursing homes and CC;s that offer the program. Not too many in JXN but Hinds, and that seems to be my only option. I found that if you go through a nursing home you will wind up spending BOOCOO time after the 3-6 week certification. You have to promise to work there for like a year, and you have to work nursing home hours, which are not conducive for my teacher schedule. I would get off at 700.. And I can't teach Biology one with no nighttime sleep. Those kids would smell the tiredness on me like BLOOD, and eat me to the bone. So Hinds is sounding good! HOLMES CC had 700 apps for this January class for RN not sure about LPN. I'm not sure is the LPN program at night as well. I'm sure just the RN. I thought of that, but they take in in January, by next Jan, I could be halfway a nurse just not with the "R". Thanks you two, just when I was starting to hear the crickets chirp......YOU ANSWERED. :trout:
  2. Is there no one at all out of the 40 who have read this that could help? PLEEEAAAASSSEEE? Even if you don't think it will help. Aren't there any nurses that are state employees on this site?
  3. I am in Mississippi and applying to the LPN program here, and I am trying to locate anyone who has received their LPN in this state. I desperately am looking for someone who can tell me if it is possible to go through the HInds Program and also work as a CNA for the year long program. I also have questions about CNA pay and where to get certified. I need to work while I'm in school for retirement with the State System Peers? If you are not in MISS. and would have advice or if you've experienced working while in LPN school....please respond Thank You:lol2:
  4. Hubby and I have been talking about my being vested in PEERS. I need to keep that going the year that I will be at HINDS for LPN. I need any info on CNA certification Classes. I know that the Community Colleges may have it,,,,,,but HOW LONG. I am a teacher, so I need something in the evenings. Does anyone on this board know of programs that are in the evening, and can I secure some sort of security before the summer. Hinds program doesnt start until the FALL, so the summer I could build up some hours. The state agency that OKAYS all of the nursing liscensure were no help. I've been researching over the break about this issue. They acted as if it was a bother to even listen to my question, and eager to get off the phone.:angryfire :angryfire :angryfire :angryfire As bad as our state needs nurses, they don't have the decency to direct a NURSE HOPEFUL in the right direction. I talked to a nurse at UMC, and she said that the agency has a list and are well equipped to answer my question and any question as it pertains to nursing in this state. She told me that I got a bad WORKER!!!! Thank God for this site, and our being able to share information and exchange it between each other. Some of you may have even started as CNA's or have thought of this route yourselves....Please help. Hubby is getting nervous about our security!!!!! I wouldn't have to do CNA full time, just as long as I am putting into the PEERS system for 2007-2008.
  5. Thanks so much for the input....My bachelors is in Biology my minor is Chemistry, lacking Micro, A&P, so I am going to be taking the pre-reqs at Hinds in anticipation for when I bridge after LPN school....but you are right the time is going to be long from here to Nurse educator....But, I just looked at all of the time I've spent not following my dreams. I'll look for your post tomorrow Kathy.
  6. I have researched this site and a few others in order to make a career change. My husband and I have two children one 13 year old and one 14 month old. I am currently a biology teacher, and have wanted to get into medicine years ago. I was premed in college, and I never took the curriculum for pre nursing, so there are classes that I am lacking. I would need A&PI/II and Micro. and lab and most Ms. schools want me to take College Algebra and Gen Chem again, because of how long it's been since I graduated. My husband and I can only afford one year with me out of work. I have chosen the LPN track, and have applied to Hinds, and I will apply to the others as soon as our Christmas break starts. I must brush up on Algebra I'm told, over the break in order to take the NET. If there is anyone in the LPN program on this site, please give me some info. about it. I am applying to the VBurg campus. Is it easier to get in to Vburg? Is it easier to get into LPN versus RN? Is it true that I can get an RN online after I get my LPN license, and it will only take a year? Does St.D., CMMC, River Region, and UMC, employ online RN's? And lastly, can I find work as an LPN with no experience at the hospitals that wrote about , and if so how much can a fresh newbie out of school make as an LPN? I want to work as soon as I pass the NCLEX, and I want to do the online RN or the Vburg bridge program twice a week and every other weekend. What I don't know is how long the evening LPN bridge program will take, it looks like a year from what I read on the HindsCC site. If anyone has any comments or answers, I would so appreciate a shout. My final plan is to do the 1 year UMC nurse educator track, so that I could teach and practice at the same time. :rotfl:  :icon_hug: :thankya: Thanks ,
