  1. I am currently an LPN RAC-CT working in a family owned 120 bed facility in Ohio. I have been working there 3 years, 2 yrs in MDS. An opportunity has presented itself at a small 50-ish bed facility very close to my home. It is a corporate owned Trilogy Healthcare facility. I know a lady that works there in another dept and have learned that the previous person was not from the area and left to be closer. The ad has been out for a couple weeks now. It was for an RN and since the position has been vacant someone from home office is filling in until they hire. I called and got an interview and was upfront about being an LPN. Because I have only done MDS in a private facility I don't know what to ask for or expect for pay. Currently I make $19.50, but my co-worker who is also an LPN makes $22.50 ( 2 more years experience).
  2. anyone willing to share what they make as an lpn in a peds office and how much experience you have? amanda
  3. Hi, I have been offered a position I am extremely interested in. I am a new grad, taking NCLEX on Aug 19. I was allowed the opportunity to follow a LPN in the Peds office I interviewed twice for. I spent 3 hours just checking it out. Great opportunity. Lousy initial pay. I have not negotiated yet. I wanted to make sure they really wanted me. Anyhow, during the interview the manager told me they usually start new grads out around $11. I know that is extremely low and plan on speaking with her again this week. I would like to tell her I enjoyed my experience, and am thrilled to be offered the position but was hoping for a salary in the range of $----and $-----. I don't want to seem pushy (I really want the job) but I don't want to get walked on either. I really don't want less than $13 but asking for $2 when I have no experience seems over the top....????? Job is 9-5 with one Sat. a month (only 3 hrs.) and perfect for me. don't want to shoot myself in the foot! Will someone give me a realistic approach on how to handle this???? thank you....amanda
  4. Hi, I am also interested in this as well. Did anyone ever send you a private message or anything giving you any details or did you find a class on your own. If you found any answers I would love to know as well. thank you. amanda
  5. Hi, I would like to know (if you are willing to share) what pay rate you started out at in a peds office. I recently had a job interview at an office I love but the pay was horrible. ($11) I am confident I will get a call back and would like to know what others in that area are making. thanks amanda
  6. How do I go about counter offering once offered the job. Do I say I would like $14 (I would accept $13 and that is pushing it, but I figure pay goes up with experience) or do I just tell them that is not enough and ask them to offer me something else higher. I don't know this process that well. thanks again, amanda
  7. What do you think is a reasonable counter offer to them? Should I say I was hoping for something in the $14 range (I would accept $13 because it is very nice and the pay would go up as I get experience). Or should I let them offer me something else by stating that they would need to offer something higher. I don't know the process of what to do now. I just know $11 will not cut it, nor will $12 really. I don't want to cut my nose off to spite my face though, you know. thanks again, amanda
  8. I graduated LPN school (June 17th) &a job posting came up at school for a peds office near my area. A grad from my school has worked there since 04 and suggested the office send a posting there. I sent a resume immediately. I had the interview yesterday and it went amazing. It is a very busy office with 4 docs. It's just what I was looking for. They are filling one FT position w/2 PT. one 4 hr. sat. a month, no late eves It was great until pay came up. When I was asked what pay I was expecting I said I was negotiable and would probably be willing to agree on something in their range. There are 4 people interviewing for 2 jobs and the turnover rate is low. She told me that new grads would probably start around $11 and I did not react knowing it would hurt my chances of getting the 2nd interview. I would like to get the job offer and then negotiate pay. I know I am new and lack nursing experience but I just went to school 2 years and 1300 clinical hours, waitressing &balancing a husband and 3 kids. I am mortified! I can't even justify driving 30 min. each way or even pay my loans off with that. I'm thinking more in the $14 range & I thought I was being realistic. How do I really go about getting that if the offer is $11. we seem way off and I admit I am a bit offended. Should I be or is this normal? I have been offered a job at a nursing home where I did my preceptorship. I can have it the day after I pass state boards. It is close (5 min.) away, the pay is $16 but 2nd shift PT. They offered me $10 to work as an aide until I passed and I declined. anyhow after a long story, how do I address this pay or are we too far off and I should cut my losses now and keep looking? thanks for listening to me vent and pout .....Amanda
  9. Would you be willing to share what your pay is being started out at? I just posted my story about my peds interview yesterday. I would love to do it and am confident I will get the second interview. I did not bat an eye when she said the pay would start around $11. I figured I should be offered the job first and then negotiate. Just curious what is normal starting pay in this environment and trying to do a little research before my next interview. thanks and congrats on your new job! amanda

  13. How soon after sending in your paperwork did you get your ATT? How much time in between graduation and NCLEX. I am graduating on 6/17 and curious what my realistic time is to expect to test. I want to do it asap! thank you!! amanda
  14. Hi All, I am sending in my packet to OBN on June 13th and am graduating on June 17th!!! We were told not to expect to test until at least August? It really seems like a long time to me and was wondering how long you really waited. How soon should I expect to get my authorization to test? Also, the nursing home where I did my preceptorship has called me and is offering me an LPN job after graduation. It is not my first choice place, but it is close and I don't want to burn bridges. I don't want to be jobless in a few months wishing I would have taken it. In the meantime they have offered to let me work as an aide until I take nclex. I do not have my stna but would be an lpn before the requirements for me to have to test for it. Any advice on this. Also, the nurses are not union, but the rest of the staff is....stna, dietary, laundry, housekeeping. Did I mention they are on strike and I would be crossing the line to take the job. any insight appreciated.......my head is spinning from thinking!! amanda
  15. I am interested in knowing more about a couple nursing homes in my area....Shelby, Willard, Norwalk. If anyone has any insights I would be appreciative. I am graduating in June from a LPN program.
