Banner Fellows March Cohort
Thanks- It was "Busy", lol, just as you said Much reading, videos ect. I am somewhat organized now, and working on absorbing the material. We are forming study groups for the West Valley. I just want to make sure I comprehend the majority of information before meeting with the others. It is fast-paced with a ton of information being thrown at us, (I expected this) but I am curious about how the exams will go. I am not sure which sources to concentrate on, there are almost too many choices. What do you usually focus on more (books or on-line sites)? I know you have been sucessful, so any study tips you have would be greatly appreciated, :)

OCD Mom-Thanks again for the great info, it should make the first day go smoother! I hope your finals went okay, Keep us updated on your clinicals! Ally07-Banner only accepted 30 for the March cohort and that was for Gateway. There were a few other threads about Banner making changes to the Fellows program. Attend the March info session, they should be able to give more information then. Still apply, it is well worth it! Good luck!:)

Quick question for OCD Mom, We have orientation March 1, and I was wondering how we should dress. Are slacks more appropriate than jeans? Also should we bring all of our textbooks? Probably silly questions, but I am really excited and want to continue to make a good impression. How are clinicals so far? Thanks again for all the advice, :)

Hey Hereitgoes3, I see you are also in the March Cohort, Congrats!!! Do you live in the west valley? There are two of us that do, and are looking at possible carpooling or study groups. We will all be doing plenty of both, lol! Two months and one day, the countdown has begun!!! Hope to see you at orientation!

I live in the west valley too, so carpooling and getting together to study would be great! Hopefully we can find others from the west valley at orientation.

Hey Cswan, I just received a letter from Gateway last week for placement. It said they will be mailing packets out in a few weeks. Whoopee! Now it finally feels real, I can't wait to get started, The countdown has begun, Two Months and Two Days!!!

Banner Fellows March Cohort
Congrats to you too Cswan!!! I received a packet in the mail Nov. 24'th. You should have received a packet with a contract to sign for Banner paying your tuition. Also it allows them access to your grades and progress at Gateway. If you haven't received this yet, I would contact them. It may have been misplaced in the mail. Don't panic, I read a post from a previous cohort where this happened. They contacted the person to see if they were still interested. Just call and let them know you haven't received it yet, they'll send you a new one. We will not hear anything else until later, maybe Febuary. I am soooo excited!!! Wish we didn't have to wait to get started!

Hi OCD, I don't think I have the ability to PM yet, (not enough post). I just thought of a few questions for you, and I will probably have more very soon, LOL! I know Banner will finance books and tuition cost. The question is do they help finance supplies, like scrubs, stethoscopes, ect.? Should I look into buying these items ahead of time? Also are there specific scrubs to buy? I know they address this in the welcome packet, but I am too excited to wait!!!! I doubt we will hear anything now until the end of Febuary.

Banner Nurse Fellows March 2010
Hi Preemie, I know it must be frustrating being an employee and not getting selected. I just want to say I do not have a perfect grade point average or a bachelors degree. I have a good gpa, scored high on the net and spoke from the heart in my essays. I don't think they are giving preferential treatment to those with a bachelors. A bachelors in another field will not guarantee a person will be a good health care professional. There is a separate cohort for people with a bachelors already but they still have to pass the interview process and I believe they are looking for compassionate individuals. If you had an interview your best bet is to call and see why you were not selected. Don't give up, you can reapply for the next cohort. I have read where some applicants applied and interviewed several times before being accepted. Also the size of the panel depends on the availability of staff and alumni on the interview dates.

I was just accepted into the March Cohort 2010, for Banner Fellows. Anyone else starting this cohort? I can't wait to get started!!! :wink2: Also, if there is anyone else in the program right now- Can you give us any advice on what to expect. How many days of class and clinicals? Just wondering, I am personally ready to eat, breathe and live nursing, LOL!

Banner Nurse Fellows March 2010
Hey Guys, I made it!!! I still can't believe it and had to check to make sure it was for me, lol! I thought I totally blew my interview, I am in complete shock! I guess for those that haven't made it in yet, don't stop trying. It is a combination of a good grade point average, net score, and essay answers, to get an interview. In the interview, they want to know that you can handle the program, commit 100% and are a compassionate person. Stay positive and know you will become a nurse, regardless! For those of you who also made it for the March cohort, Congrats!!!! :redpinkhe :loveya:

Well, I had my interview last Wed. and the ladies were very nice. But I think I blew it, I was so nervous! I am normally great at interviews but I want this opportunity so much!!!! Now I feel like I am torturing myself on what I should have or could have said differently. Oh, well it is in God's hands now! I hope it goes better for the rest of you!:redpinkhe
