US lawmakers are not first in the line among well-wishers for immigrants
thanks a lot, suzanne for your reply. of course, there are many different nurses with different skills not only in the us, but in europe and other countries. i have a lot of experience, including job in uk, sweden, norway where the healthcare system is very well developed. do you know, everywhere there are the same problems - different level of nursing skills. in accordance with research about nursing negligence in sweden for example, the vast majority of accidents were connected with young swedish native nurses, not immigrants. i just want to ask you: do you think it is correct to blame immigrants before any serious research in this term will be performed? moreover, such opinions from us nurses and nursing unions may stop nurisng immigration at all. may be we should support a serious discussion and research about nursing negligence and lack of skills and only after that decide who is the main problem for us healthcare system? thank you, suzanne.

US lawmakers are not first in the line among well-wishers for immigrants
Do you mean that NVC have to ask an additional skills checklist? Or NVC or US Congress should provide their own skills exam? It may carry an immigration to the point of absurdity. The truth is following: they are seeking cause to say "good-by" politely. It is dishonestly: if you do not need foreigh nurses anymore you should say it clearly without any dodges. Only employer has legal right to assess prospective candidates, and if employer agrees to sponsor foreign nurse, it is not the business of US authorities to put obstacles in the way of immigration.

US lawmakers are not first in the line among well-wishers for immigrants
thanks a lot suzanne for your detail explanations. you are definitely the most competent here. you posted: «theory has nothing to do with actual clinical skills. being able to start an iv, give an injection and drawing up the medication, and inserting a foley catheter are not on the exam. priorities are.» i have to disagree with you. you forgot that all nurses have to fill out clinical skills list before immigration process starts. do you think that foreign nurses who claim that their have necessary skills are liars? another point: i have more that 14 years experience in emergency and critical care, moreover as a nursing supervisor i able to teach nursing skills for young nurses. have i any benefits from that in immigration process? our skills have nothing to do with immigration process, everything depends on good (or bad) will of your wealthy and healthy (for the present!) lawmakers and nursing lobby, which is sleeping successfully. bets wishes and god bless you.

US lawmakers are not first in the line among well-wishers for immigrants
dear suzanne, thanks a lot for your assistance and support, could i ask you: it seems that us lawmakers are not first in the line among well-wishers for immigrants, i hope the situation with foreign nurses will not become even worse. i know that the future of cir and nursing retrogression unpredictable, however: 1. could you describe the poor scenario if there will be no any congress actions toward immigration. how long should we wait from pd- 5 years or more? 2. if i-140 has already approved, does it mean that the congress or senate still able to cancel or delay an immigration process? in other words, does the process irreversible or not? suzanne, please understand that my questions is not complex of fears and doubts, i have to planning my future and seek other options in case of us immigration process will be retrogressed, so your answers are critical for me and for my friends. many thanks!

Using Student Visa during Retrogression
dear suzanne, from your reply: "and right now with all of the immigration issues going on, i would be very leary to tell someone to go that route if their goal is just to wait for the green card." thanks a lot for your mission and assistance, however we are not at the same boat now. it is easy to advise to sit and waiting for something being in the us and having a good job. dear suzanne, please, could you answer my questions: what is going on nursing immigration apart from idle talk? nobody knows how long does it take us lawmakers to solve that problem, moreover i am not sure that us senators are know what does "nurse" mean. so, suzanne, i cannot realize why you decide that something will happen on nursing immigration? have you any concrete facts about that? where is the nursing lobby in congress, for example? is it possible to change a business visa (b1/b2) to student (m1) if my i-140 petition has already approved? who is able to prohibit to study while you are waiting for the green card? i prefer to improve my english and nursing professional skills instead of waiting for something on immigration for ages. thank you an advance.

Retrogression!!!
Dear Suzanne! I would like to ask you. 1. Of course, It is difficult to predict an advance, however it is critical issue: is it possible if the retrogression will last for 3-4-5 years? I have noticed from your forum that we could expect the good news sometimes in the next summer, but is it real expectation or the matter of previous experience only? You are the best advisor and expert here, Suzanne, have you any facts to support our hopes? I am asking about that only because I am not ready to wait 5 years, and many foreign nurses are at the same boat. 2. From NVC site: "If your case is not current, we will send you a letter informing you that we have your file at NVC and will hold it until your case becomes current". Does it mean that it is impossible to receive any documents from NVC during retrogression period, including packets 2 or 3, consequently it is too early to submit payment for visas? Thank you, Suzanne, for your kindness.

Retrogression!!!
congradulations! if you are green card holder already there is no point to you to bear ill will to nurses from other countries and wish them to get stuck in immigration process for ages. the best example is suzanne rn, bs, mba!, she is trying to support us during difficult times instead of stiring up discord in immigration community. you should get an example from her. as of illegal immigration it is the only one example what is fairly or unfairly. our society is not fair et all, but we should support each other. god bless you.

Retrogression!!!
Dear rhp123, thanks for your reply, but your position is still illogical. You wrote:"If the law is passed, it will be so unfair to other professions". Could you explain, who prohibit you as a PhD from going through nursing process? I guess it is connected with a lot of problems on this way. So, it is your choice: whether you prefer to be a PhD and to be proud of your great achievement , but have no way for Green Card or become a RN, working hard and get Permanent residence. Another reason: what do you think, it is fair or unfair if 10 millions illegal immigrants will be granted Green Card, at the same time lawfull nurses from other countries will not be able to complete legal immigration process for ages? Do you know, I had many chances to stay in the US illegally with my US multientry visa, but I prefer going through legal immigration process. And I think it will be unfair if the law means nothing in America. Therefore the main problem is broken immigration system, and I hope the lawmakers are ready to fix it as soon as possible, no matter it is fair or unfair for PhD from China or India. And we should work together in this way instead of being envious. Best wishes.

Retrogression!!!
do you know, dear rhp123, that if you are from country like china or india it is doesn't matter whether you are phd or professor. do you know, that a lot of doctors around the world are ready to study and pay a lot of money to be prepared as a nurse in the us (see md-rn post). so, phd or smth like that in china and india is nothing to to with phd in america. it is different! finally, i highly recommended to you to complete your study, pass ielts, nclex and earn us nursing license, and only after that you will be able to compare phd in china with rn in the us. thank you.

Retrogression!!!
i disagree with you, dear rhp123 and ready to explain. first of all, the vast majority of the us nurses are from china and india, it is understandable, you have more than 2 billion population. however, it is not the blame of nurses from other countries that you are too crawded. secondly, the us economy and healthcare system needs rn, not phd. you as a phd have a great opportunity to immigrate to canada, for example. they will give you an additional bonus if you are ready to immigrate, so canada needs phd, hurry up!!!
