  1. Hello, I have a question and apologize if it seems ignorant. As an RN, I know from personal experience that it's possible to get an RN license in other states without retaking the NCLEX. It was just a matter of filling out paperwork, etc. Is the same true regarding Nurse Practitioners, or do NP's have to retake NP certification exams if they relocate? Thanks.
  2. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with me. I , too, have heard really good things about UIC's nursing programs. I know DePaul also has a great nursing program, undergraduate as well as graduate. It was smart that you gave yourself some options in terms of schools, and I think I will be doing the same. Good luck with your career and best wishes.
  3. Hello, I was wondering if anyone has had or is currently having any experiences with UIC's Graduate Nursing school. I applied to an NP program and have been called for an interview by UIC. Does anyone know what percentage of people interviewed are accepted? Does UIC have a long waiting list? The reason I'm asking is because I don't want to put my eggs all in one basket and find out I didn't get accepted at the last minute. I'm thinking of applying to other Chicagoland programs, perhaps. Any info would be great. Thanks.
  4. I'm sorry that you hate your current NP job. It sounds like you've worked hard over the years, and you deserve a job that's fulfilling. What do you dislike about your current job? What are your responsibilities as a Women's NP? I have experience working mainly in postpartum/mother&baby units. Do you think I need experience working L+D before starting a Womens Health NP program? What's the job market like for Womens Health NP? I hope you find a job in NP that you like. Perhaps moving from LA (like I did) will open up more opportunities for you.
  5. That would be great! Thank you so much for replying. I would love to hear your experiences, especially since I lived in Los Angeles for a couple of years recently.
  6. Are there any Womens Health Care NP's on this site? I'd like to hear from WHCNP's regarding their work experiences, job opportunities, programs they attended, etc. Any input from anyone who is working in Women's Health as an NP would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks.
  7. Hi, I need some advice from anyone willing to give it. I'm an RN who is about to start a NICU position soon. I have experience working in labor and delivery, mother/baby , and well newborn nurseries. I have a BS in biology, and a BSN through an accelerated nursing program. I want to now further my education through a Masters program in Nursing. I'm contemplating either a Womens Health NP or Family NP Program. I'm interested in Women's Health, but I want to be marketable, and I haven't seen too many job opportunities for WHCNP's. Would it be better to focus on a Family NP program? Could I still work in Women's Health or an Ob/Gyn office even if I have a Family NP degree? I've never worked with children, older people, men in my nursing career. Would a Family NP program be out of my realm? Also, what are the job/salary prospects for Family NP vs WHCNP's ? By the way, the two graduate programs I'm considering ( Loyola and UIC) don't offer dual programs in Family and Women's Health NP , so I have to choose one.
