  1. What the heck is an NP 1 vs. an NP2, etc.

Yes! The NPs are also covered under nursing, thus CNA. For me to become an NP, I will only be making $5 more since I also get the night diff as an RN. I have heard of other hospitals factoring in years of RN experience. That's awesome. Needless to sa...
  2. What the heck is an NP 1 vs. an NP2, etc.

I work for UCLA. As an RN, I am at step 10 (10 years of experience). I just graduated from UCLA AGACNP program. If I were to start tomorrow, they will start me at NP1 for first 6 months. I would now be on the NP ladder. No longer on the RN ladde...
  3. UCLA MSN Fall 2014

There are NO clinicals the first quarter (fall). Clinicals start in winter quarter. As far as the curriculum, for those who already have a masters in Nursing, they may not have to follow the exact curriculum and repeat courses.
  4. UCLA MSN Fall 2014

No, MOST people do not leave their bedside jobs. 2 of my colleagues are graduating from the ACNP program this week and have worked part time (2 12 hr shifts/week) during the whole 2 years and full time during breaks. If you don't HAVE to work, then ...
  5. UCLA MSN Fall 2014

ksnurseks- congratulations on your acceptance into the FNP program! To start off answering your question, from what I understand, the decision to enter the UCLA Masters in Nursing program is not one to take lightly. It is very time and effort inten...
  6. UCLA MSN Fall 2014

From what I've been told, thus is a very benign course. If you take it during the fall quarter, it will be least on your priority list. I am still contemplating taking it over the summer. I don't get a ucla tuition discount on summer courses. My cow...

Passion8... do you work at RRUCLA? Which unit?
  8. UCLA MSN Fall 2014

I plan on working full time as long as I can. I am also a single mommy to a 10 month old. Though she will be 15 months by Sept. I feel something's gotta give. So I will go part-time work if I have the oppurtunity to. From what I've been told by ...

Passion8nurse... How come as a post Master's student, your program is also 2 years long? What are the differences in our curriculum? I assume you graduated from the MECN program at UCLA
  10. UCLA MSN Fall 2014

Hi Harry- thank you! Don't be discouraged. Keep applying if it's something you want. Just so you know, my ADN GPA was horrendous. 2.9 with F' and D's and withdrawals on my transcript from 10 years ago. My BSN GPA was cum Laude 3.6 last year. NOT stel...
  11. UCLA MSN Fall 2014

NRSVERO- I don't know if it will be session A, B, or C. Not sure on any of those details. Jess4RN- in my previous posts, they accepted up to 24 people out of 57 who applied. So 6 of those 24 people need to decline their offer. There is a possibilit...
  12. UCLA MSN Fall 2014

I just emailed MC. I looked for the physical assessment class that some of us need to take over the summer and it wasn't a class that was offered. MC replied that seats were being reserved for those who got Into the program and thst RF would send us ...
  13. UCLA MSN Fall 2014

  16. UCLA MSN Fall 2014

Hi Jess- yea I work for ucla in the ICU at RR. But I didn't get hired until January of this year. So not sure if that made a difference in their decision since my first day of hospital orientation wasn't until January 13. But on my acceptance letter,...

  18. UCLA MSN Fall 2014

Yes. Yesterday my decision log in page said no decision had been made yet. This morning, the decision login page says, "decision letters available to view online. Print for your records." Then it has a "continue" button. And that opened up to my lett...
  19. UCLA MSN Fall 2014

Maybe FNP is different than ACNP in rolling out their decision. I turned in my app exactly at midnight on Dec 1. Don't think that plays a factor. Thank you everyone :)
  20. UCLA MSN Fall 2014

Thanks for the update!! i got admitted to the AC/agnp program. I have a lot of prayer to discern if I should go or not. Looking forward to meeting my cohort. And good luck to you all!
  21. UCLA MSN Fall 2014

Don't be hard on yourselves. I only cope because I have a 9 month old and I'm not sure, if I get accepted, if now is the right time to go back to school since I am a single mom and work full time. I believe in whatever is meant to be will be. My my ...
  22. UCLA MSN Fall 2014

Sunny1230- physio does not affect your admission chances. But if they do accept you into the program, if UCLA does not feel you have met their requirement, you can take it over the summer. However, after I submitted my app, the SON at ucla sent me e...
  23. UCLA MSN Fall 2014

If admitted, I plan on taking physio and Physical Assessment over the summer. I don't want to spend $600-$800 and find out I wasn't accepted. It would had been nice to had found out Before March 31 because Physio started at UCLA extension that day. N...
