  1. I actually went through a bridge program. I have been accepted into an Adult Health/Occupational Health NP program. Right now I am working part-time on a tele unit and will do that throughout my master's program.
  2. Got my results today and I passed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. I took my boards 3 days ago and feel more worried now than I did before I took the test. The machine shut off at 75 and for some reason when I was in the 60s I felt that it would. Some of the questions I got I felt were hard but then I would get about 2 after each hard question that were so easy. I felt I was up and down the whole time. I also got some absolutely random questions that were never expected. One about Buddist Dying Rituals, the other was if someone was allergic to Sudafed which HERB (yes I said herb) would you not give them. The answer was Ma Huang-honestly I never learned this from studying, school, or Kaplan-I learned that from tv. I kept thinking-are there the "hard" questions? I was expecting stuff about lab values, acidosis, chest tubes-I maybe got one of each of these questions. The only other med question I got was about Epogen (not dig, anticonvulsants, or bronchodilators). I don't know what to think.
  4. Well thanks for all the responses-the good and bad. I take my NCLEX in June and I will start a new grad program and then work 24 hours a week while I work on my NP (which will take 2 years)-so I will have 2 years of RN experience before I become a NP. I know this may not sound like enough experience to most of you. My program gives a RN and a MSN. Basically it looks like we went to a hospital diploma program if we decide to quit the masters and stick with the RN role. Speaking for myself-I chose Nursing over PA school b/c it is more holistic. The role of the NP is better then the role of the PA too b/c there is more focus on teaching and prevention (my opinion). I think I would always recognize myself as a RN first and then a NP. Now for others in my class-who knows. Most want to be in clinics not at the bedside while they work on the RN-they believe it will make them a better NP. But hey-that's them-not me (no blasting please). Oh and I know the NP market is most areas is not too hot so worst comes the worst I will work PT as a NP and PT as a floor nurse. I have already invested too much money and time in school and I won't back down now. Thanks again
  5. Hi, I am currently in a Master's Entry Level Program in Nursing. I have a BS in another field and in June I will have my RN. I will start working on my Master's in Nursing starting in the Fall. I am wondering-do you have to be a floor nurse before you can be a NP? I only ask b/c I have started looking into new grad training programs as floor nurses but most of my fellow classmates are not doing this. They want clinic work, dislike the role of the bedside nurse, and don't think it is necessary to be a floor nurse before becoming a NP. They feel that all the procedures we are learning (dealing with IVs, putting in NG tubes, suctioning, etc) won't help them as NPs. I just want to do what is best for my career and wonder if a staff nurse in a clinic is better work experience than a floor nurse for those wanting to be Adult NPs. Any input is greatly appreciated:D
  6. Hi, I will be starting an entry level NP program (for non-nurses) in June and was told I needed to buy white nursing pants and green scrub tops. Can anyone recommend some good sites off the internet where they have found these items (the cheaper the better)? Thanks:D
