thank you for the info, although the social worker at the nursing home he is in has been assisting him, sometimes i wonder how much, simply because that means they lose a patient/income to their facility. He is on medicare with SS, and his total income is less than $1000.00/ month. His new rent will be more than half his monthly income. He wants to do so much of the process on his own, as that is the only control he has, but I thought if i could find some info he might not come across, it may help. He will be taken care of through CareStar..and he will have Independent Providers come in for his care, although CareStar is only allowed to give him 16 hours a day, which leaves him alone for 8 hours a day. I will check into your suggestions. Thanks again.

Does anyone know where i can find info on getting financial help for a quadriplegic? He is 40 years old and going to move into his own home and have Independent Providers come in to do his care, but his income is limited obviously, and I am wondering what all services/help he is qualified for due to his disablility. Thanks.

hi, i am new here. I have been a nursing assistant for 22 years. I would love to go to school to further my career, but due to 4 kids, no time or money, i haven't. But i fear if i don't jump on the bandwagon soon , i never will. I am 39 years old, but due to my occupation, feel about 139. I live in Ohio, and i guess i need to know what i need to do to make this leap. Maybe alot of it is fear, like the math that i would have to take for nursing, or any other career in that direction. Is it better to do the LPN course and then bridge over to RN, or just do the RN from the get-go? As far as LPN, i am not saying i know as much as they do, but after doing what i've done for 22 years, there's not alot left for me to know as far as what LPN's are trained to do. So please give me some input and a kick in the butt to get me going!! thanks....
