  1. I personally like Corrections Nursing (I'm in Ohio). But with any specialty area, I personally recommend at least 2 years experience in a medical/surgical setting of some sort (hospital is the best). I was an LPN for 15 years, before obtaining my RN, and did one and a half years of med/surg at a local hospital before getting my corrections job. In Med/Surg you learn a lot of skills, especially assessment wise, which you need if you are going to work in a correctional setting.

I am also looking at OU's RN-BSN program online. There are other schools that offer this option also (University of Cincinnatti, WVUP are a couple of the others I have been looking at). One of the reasons I am looking at a few schools, is because I eventually want to get my Master's in Nursing Education, which is offered online at the other two schools, but not through OU. I should take statistics next quarter at the school I am currently attending, but I don't know if I want to or not. I will graduate in June with my ADN, and I am currently an LPN. Good luck to you!!
  3. I graduate June 13th. Getting ready to do preceptorship Spring quarter, we have to do 150 hours with the preceptor here in Ohio. Just finished Complex Needs (Critical Care Nursing) and I passed with a 95% on my final and a 93% which is a B for the course. I don't know what other types of grading scales everone else has here, but it's a 95% and above for an A at my school.
