I heard that a lot in school....that people who were A students weren't great clinically. I was an A student and I excelled clinically. The concepts you will see towards the second half of nursing school require you to know and understand details. A&P is the base from which you will build on while you are in nursing school. I found that the people who barely passed A&P had a difficult time when it came to understanding the nursing interventions associated with cardiac problems. If you don't understand GFR and the renal system, you will have a difficult time with the meds that effect the renin-angiotensin process and how it effects BP. Electrolyte imbalances will be tough if you don't understand cell structure. If you still have to "draw" the heart to understand the flow, it will be difficult for you. Nursing school can be very tough. It is a roller coaster ride! Can you pass A&P with a C and still get through school and pass your boards....of course you can. But it is important to really get a handle on the basics before you start school. You be thankful for it later.
