Thank you both for your insight. I'd like to be done with school and able to work as quickly as possible, but I also don't want to rush it so that I just have to back to school in a few years. I start volunteering at a local hospital in a few weeks, so hopefully I will have the chance to speak to some of the nurses there and get feedback. Some schools make it so hard to get information, it's really frustrating!

I have a BA in an unrelated field and am currently looking into going back to school for nursing. All of these different programs are confusing! I am unsure whether I should be doing a MSN or BSN program, or first going the route of CNA so I can work while completing other programs. Which route did you choose and why?

Hello all, Just wanted to introduce myself and see if you can help me with a few questions. I am currently looking into going back to school to become a nurse. I am working in an unrelated industry, and although I graduated from a great school with a great GPA, my BA required hardly any of the prerequisites I will need to get into a nursing program. I am wondering if you can give me any advice or guidance as to which nursing program you would recommend for someone who already has a bachelors degree in something else. I know UCLA has a great 2-year MSN program, but I have heard that holding a masters doesn't really get you much in terms of salary or better jobs. If this is true, do you think it would be better for me to try a shorter BSN program? Is there a way to do some schooling and then work while you finish in the field while finishing your degree? I don't know anyone who works in medicine, so I any advice you guys can give me would be very much appreciated.
