  1. I am a new graduate and I am relieved that it is over. It is not that it was real hard it is just very demanding. I had to manage children and school. This was tough. I do agree that if it comes to him that easily then this must be his calling. Hats off to him!!!!
  2. I work in a small rural hospital and I have a great concern about where the line should be drawn as far as protecting my license. We are chronically understaffed in my opinion. On several instances, I am supposed to be charge nurse on the med/surg floor and watch a laboring patient in the L&D. How do I take responsibility for both of these duties at the same time? Is this right for this to be asked of me? I do not feel comfortable with it and made that aware to my DON and it hasn't happened in awhile. I just need advise on what I might should do if it happens again or am I just whining???? The DON seems to think so.....:smackingf
  3. I started charging my second day off of orientation. It really sucked but I guess I did okay...I think it really depends on the size of the hospital and the patient load as to whether or not this is okay. In a critical care unit I don't feel it would be appropriate right off. Other than that, might as well jump in and get after it!!!!!!! There is no better teacher than experience.:sofahider
  4. i am very sympathetic towards you... the test always puts disbelief in new nurses. be confident (easier said than done). why such a long wait to find out???? i am a new nurse and just passed the nclex-rn in october of last year. i must say i felt just like you do when it "cut me off" at 76 questions. i bet you did fine and if not just take it again...i had a doctor ask me a question one day while i was waiting on my results. he said "what is the difference in a nurse who takes the test once and one that has to take it more than once?" an rn..... this put a smile on my face and made me feel better, so maybe it will you too.... good luck!!!!!!!!!:icon_hug:
  5. I work in a small rural hospital in the US and can sadly say I have not heard of a "magnet hospital". It almost sounds too good to be true..... Maybe I need to do some job searching!!!!
