Failed NCLEX twice and feel sad :(
Don't give up. Lot's of people do not pass the first or second time. I took Kaplan review and loved it. The review breaks down what the question is actually asking and teaches you how to answer it. Good luck!

ambulatory surgery center hours and such
Hey all! I work in an ASC (in the OR) in Florida and I love the work, our doctors and most of the people I work with. We are a fairly new ASC (open about 1 1/2 years) and are owned by about 12 local surgeons. We are finally getting busy and are now being told by "management" that in an ASC setting there are NO regular work hours (up until now I have worked 6 - 2:30 cause that's what time I was told to come in and leave upon being hired) and that the staff has to stay until all cases are done and all patients are gone. We are also being told that ASC's don't hire extra staff to ensure lunches and breaks to staff and if we don't get lunch until 2pm, deal with it and be happy we have a job. I would love any info that anyone can provide. This is my first ASC (I came from a hospital) and I am not sure if what we are being told about lunch and regular hours are true or a way to make the staff be quiet and accept what is being told to us! Thanks everyone for your input :)

New Grad-OR
I am in the same boat as you are Regglynn. I graduated on the fourth of this month, and have an internship/perioperative program in the OR. My teachers also told me to do med surg or floor nursing first, even though everyone at my school knows I came to nursing school to be an OR nurse! I am a little nervous about losing skills that I learned in school, but as I said, I went to nursing school to go into the OR, so I try not to worry about ever having to HAVE to work on a floor (no offense to floor nurses) and concentrate instead on how happy I am that I will be where I have always wanted to be!!!

ready to quit school, almost
Don't quit! You have come too far, it's almost over. I don't know where you go to school, but I am in Florida and it is illegal (I have been told) to change the "rules" half way thru a program. I would do what someone else said and talk to the dean of the school (en masse) with all of your other classmates. I think your only other option is to just keep your mouth shut, do your best and give them the finger at graduation (after you get your seating pass of course!!) Good luck...

help with degrees
Hello everyone. I am pretty new to the forum so I hope I am in the right place! My question is can someone explain (in simple terms) to me the difference between the degrees that are available in nursing? (ADRN, BSRN, MSRN etc). I am trying to do a paper for my nursing leadership class and the more I read, the more I get confused! Just when I think I have the degrees straight, I read something else and become confused all over again. Are there only a few things that we can get a masters degree in for nursing?, Are all masters degrees considered AP nursing? Help please!!!

confused about advanced practice!! please help
ah ha! The lightbulb has clicked on! Thank you so much! I just needed someone to tell me exactly what you great people just did! I am going to check out the websites you both provided. You would not believe how long I have been looking for information on this topic (about 2 months), and I was more confused today than I was before I started my research! Thank you so much! I am so glad I somehow found this site! Hopefully this will clear up my question, but if not, I will be back to pick your brains some more! Thanks again:yeah:
