  1. Thanks, KnarfKS and ShockerGirl07. The information you gave me is very helpful. I've been thinking lately that I shouldn't live in Lawrence even though it sounds like a great city. The commute is too far and gas is not cheap these days. I will look up Eudora and keep the highways in mind for faster commutes. Thanks, again!
  2. Thanks for your comments KnarfKS. I think most likely I will move to Lawrence because I have a good friend who lives there and it sounds like a great city. I will commute to the program I get into. I know KU Med School is a bit far from Lawrence, but there's always carpooling. I'm all for that. Did you move to Roeland Park because it's closer to KU Med School? Do you mind if I ask how much you're paying for rent? I just want to get some ideas. I've looked things up on the internet but it's always good to ask people who are living there now. Since you lived in Lawrence for 25 years, do you have any apartment recommendations? I would preferably like to live in an apartment where the bus goes. Sorry, for all of the questions. You don't have to answer them, just thought I'd ask in case you had information. Sorry about your uncle, but I can't say I know what it's like to be one of those "people in the crack houses".
  3. Thanks, kastas! I look forward to visiting many cities in Kansas. I am a very open minded individual and have lived in various places. For example, right now I'm in Taiwan teaching English, and I live in a very polluted city, but I'm here for the job, so I had to deal with it. I could not live here for another year though. You can't even drink the tap water. Although the city I'm in now is not that great, there are many other nice and beautiful cities in Taiwan. Anyways, I feel my time is up here, and I need another change. Actually, I want nothing more right now than to go to nursing school. I'M READY! Thanks for your comments! I appreciate it.
  4. Hi KnarfKS, Thank you for your opinions. I have never been to Kansas so I don't know much about the cities or schools except for the information on the internet. Unfortunately, I will be paying out of state tuition fees because I am not a Kansas resident. So, basically the tuition fees are very close to being the same (for me) at either universities. Besides Lawrence, what would you say are good cities around KU and Baker? Thanks!!
  5. Thanks, Kastas! I will research both hospitals as well. I look forward to being in Kansas in a few months!
  6. Sorry RoxanRN, I guess I was a bit vague. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Florida and am applying to Baker University and University of Kansas's two year BSN programs. I'm not going for an Associate's program, I'm going for another Bachelor degree.
  7. Hi Everyone, I'm a Floridian, but moving to Kansas in a few months. I'm in the middle of applying to both Baker University and the University of Kansas. I hope to start the two-year nursing program in the fall. Is anyone in either programs? If so, how's it going? Look forward to hearing from you soon!
  8. I need your help! Let me begin by saying that I was born and raised in Florida, but am no longer considered a Florida resident for tuition purposes because I have been living in Taiwan for the past two years. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from the University of Central Florida a few years ago and am in the process of applying to two year BSN programs in the States. First, I need to take five prerequisite courses online because I am still living in Taiwan (teaching English). Does anyone know of an online college that will allow a student to take all of the five following courses? 1) Nutrition 2) Child Development 3) General Biology with Lab 4) General Microbiology with Lab 5) General Chemistry with Lab I think most online institutions offer the first two courses, but a lot of them will not mail the science lab kits overseas. Instead of taking a couple of courses here and a few there, I would rather take them all from one place for future conveniences, such as transcript requests. I would really appreciate it if someone could help. Thank you!!
  9. You're definitely not too old! 26 is young! I say this because I am 26 years old myself and am applying for an Accelerated BSN program for Fall 2007. If accepted, I will be 27. I feel at this age, I am more mature and know how to handle situations better than at the age of 22. There is a lot of pressure to have a steady career by the age of 25, get married and have babies. People will always talk, especially family, but it's up to you to go for what you want.
