  1. I have been a nurse for thirty years. I still welcome an opportunity to do things better even if it is done or suggested by a younger nurse. We can all learn form each other. The nurse who was upset about the premade packets was not a good example of progressive learning. The only way to improve things is to change them. Any one who has a problem with progressive change will soon find themselves out dated!
  2. No ,unless gas was again 50 cents a gallon or the cost of living index matched that. I love nursing ,but I also love having food, clothes ,utilities,a place to live and those kind of luxuries.
  3. I have seen patients who seem to see something that no one else can see, they always have a look that gives the impression that they are looking at something very interesting and very pleasant. I have noticed that they seem to have a far away gaze as if in a trance, death usually follows shortly.
  4. I stayed in nursing for 30 years. I left with bad knees that need replacing, a torn shoulder rotator cuff and not even a thank you from admin where I was a loyal hard working nurse who stayed at the bedside all those years. I stayed because I wanted to stay at the core of nursing. I was told that I was not ambitious enough, that I should have at least aspired to be in management. I fully understand why the younger nurses don't feel the commitment that us old worn out nurses felt. The "new and improved "administrative team has literally sucked all the satisfaction out of nursing with all the production rules and the dog eat dog attitude of climbing the ladder and being top dog. If I had it to do again, I think I would choose to be in the business world where you expect to have to "watch your back". At least the main ploy is not involved in making life and death decisions.
  5. You don't have to be super smart, just committed to being a nurse. The grade received in school will not determine how good a nurse you are. Only you can make that distinction.
