  1. hi there as mentioned there are loads of options for working in adelaide. but nobody has told you about flinders medical centre where i work. its a great place to work! due to large size they are always hiring. i work in operating theatres but have friends in many areas all who enjoy working there. its a very busy public teaching hospital. 600 beds i beleive. only 12kms from the city and even less to the beach! check it out at http://www.flinders.sa.gov.au/ if you work a 7 day rotating roster you get 6 weeks holidays per year. if there is anything else you'd like to know feel free to contact me nicki:nurse:
  2. Dear All Im wondering if anyone can help me with some information I need. A am writting an assignment on addressing needs of particular groups, I have chosen Jehovah's Witnesses. I am wondering if this group has particular needs when a relative dies in a healthcare setting? Also do they believe in cremation? or burial only? any assistance would be greatly apprecaited as IM using this as a way of educating my self and my peers. thankyou Nicki Australia
  3. Hi all Im wondering if anyone is knowledgable on Pentecostal beliefs? I was scrubbed for operation that patients family, particularly husband, requested that removed body organs (cancerous) be given to them??? This totally blew my mind, no body I work with knew why they wanted them. I can only assume their belief system requires all body parts be buried with them??? Im on a mission of understanding , appreciate any help or info on the topic Thankyou nicki smith australia:idea:
  4. This must be a world wide issue in theatre! Im in australia. Been an RN for 2 years and recently (5 months ago) joined operating theatre. I thoroughly enjoy the work... loads to learn of course. But I find there are so many staff members who have been theatre nurses for 20 years+ that they just have no idea how to support new staff. Often they stop you from trying to learn new skills, even if a basic procedure. Our area is renowned for being very bitchy, clicky etc. The advice by Tracey was great I must add! But so hard to remember when your in the thick of a really bad day. Im 34 and I do my best to support the younger grads as I know they find it so hard. But Im hanging in there and trying to toughen up and in my own small way change the system. I work hard ALWAYS and try not to give anyone real reason to complain about my work. Hang in there guys! :wink2: Nicki
