This is so true for psych. I've worked with very knowledgable nurses who just caused chaos when they worked and you could track restraints by their schedule. Once I had to close a nurse in the med room to keep her from making a situation worse. I may not know all the latest studies but I can help my patients and give them the respect they deserve.
Working on an acute adult psych unit we get some off the wall requests so when a man from Russia asked, "Where can I get some sex?" I said, "We don't have that here." He insisted and then asked more clearly if he could get some socks! That I told him I could help him with. At least we all had a good laugh.
1- No. Took it several years ago and felt miserable a few days later. Haven't had it since and have been healthy. I don't buy into products where there is no legal responsibility on the part of the maker. My understanding is we cannot take legal action against the makers even if harm is done. 2- it is strongly encouraged but many still wear masks which is allowed. Work in a small community hospital upstate NY. The only nurse I know of with the flu, got the vaccine which was the wrong strain for what she got. 3- my concerns are noted in 1 & 2 as well as it being a new vaccine each year. I have no problem with the ongoing standard ones that have been around for years. 4- As far as I know, no one has lost their job over this issue.
