Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA
Update! I was endorsed July 23rd (originally mailed in January)! My mother contacted her local congressman and someone from their office called the board of nursing twice. I am sure it helped. I just accepted an emergency room job last week!!!! I wish you the best.

Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA
Overnighted my application Jan 20, Breeze shows received on Feb 12. Still pending. when you select that pop up on status, says open. In May my sister went to the office, they would only tell her they had everything they needed except fingerprints (they mailed in my hard card in march for verification- I thought January was PLENTY of time). I'd be happy to fly out now to get a livescan but my understanding is you have to resubmit everything if you already sent in hard card fingerprints. That makes no sense to me, and it seems like that would make it all confusing and mess things up but that's the only input I've gotten. So I just wait.... really hope I get my license by the time I finish my current job, sell my house and travel half way across the country (less than a month away.) My husbands job transfer is already approved but I really need to work too

Waiting on fingerprints, do I fly in for live scan??????
So if they say they got my items Feb 12 (overnighted it jan 20) and they mailed my fingerprints to FBI in March, does it mean it might be any day? Also, s Sometimes real issues come up and I'm afraid of moving before I get it... because what if I move and then I get a denial. I know totally unlikely but I've heard a few horror stories of stolen identities and who knows what else. I also don't want to be unemployed for months.

Need help on steps to live scan if hard copy already submitted.
I have an application by endorsement already submitted in January. The update in May (family member went to the office) was the only thing that is being waited on is results on my hardcopy fingerprints, that were sent in to FBI for verification during the month of march (could be three months but we are almost there....). If I don't have it already, feel like maybe it's going to be a while and I am moving in less than a month! How do I submit a live scan, and is this a problem if I already submitted a hardcopy fingerprint card? I was able to locate the live scan form but am not 100% sure how it works to go get live scanned. Does ANY live scan location work? If not where do I need to go? Do I need an appointment? Planning on flying in from out of state, asap, but want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row. I really appreciate any input.

Waiting on fingerprints, do I fly in for live scan??????
So after thinking about it more, decided I WANT to fly out to do a livescan for finger prints but is this ok if I already sent hard copy in? Thinking of booking ticket tonight but do you need to make an appointment?

Waiting on fingerprints, do I fly in for live scan??????
I've been waiting for months to hear on word re: my California RN license by endorsement from Iowa. I mailed overnight Jan 20. Breeze web site lists received on Feb 12. Mid may I still hadn't heard anything so my sister made a whole day trip driving to the office in Sacramento to check on status. She was able to find out California Board of nursing mailed in my hard copy fingerprint card for clearance sometime in March, and that is all they are waiting. The wait could be three months from when they submitted (but thinking it could be longer by the time they look at it and let me know I have a license). I'm getting nervous... I close on selling my house July 22, my last day at work is July 14th... I was hoping to be applying for a new job by now. Thinking about flying out as soon as schedule would allow (June 28,29). thoughts?

Teamwork for Nursing and Nursing Assistants, how can I help?
How do I get the nurses and nurse aides to be a better team? In general, I think we have an awesome NA and RN group on my med/surg floor. Unfortunately, it recently came to my attention that the some of the NA are fed up. I think it might just be a few RN who aren't the best at teamwork, a few new and very caring wanting to help RN who are overwhelmed and might not help out as much as the seasoned nurses, and we did just let go an nurse aide who was a huge issue for a few months so maybe we leaned on the good aides more being burned out on a nurse aide who didn't help at all. How do I get things to improve? How do I keep from offending RN and/or NA? Need advice of tried and true methods!!!

Small hospital RN, potential move to Austin. What do I need to know?
My husband recently started at a job with a great future and this could mean a potential move to Austin. It would be in a year or two, but I like to be prepared. What does a potential Austin RN (or surrounding area) need to know before I look for a job in the area? I'm associate degree R.N. I work at a smaller hospital (in another state). I have close to 2 years on med/surg, with the last year in CCU (we are small enough I never know where I'll be until I get to work -maybe 1/2 my shifts end up being in actual CCU). I also am trained in Post partum and have at least 2 shifts there a month for the past 6 months. I should be trained in Labor and Delivery by this time next year. Prior to the hospital, I was charge nurse for an 80 bed LTC facility. I love being a nurse and right now feel pretty flexible in what department I want to focus on if I went to a larger hospital. Just let me be a nurse, and I think I'll be just fine . So as an associate degree nurse with the experience listed, will getting a job be difficult? Are there hospitals that I should avoid, would love? Also, I am wondering what nurse ratio's tend to be there. We tend to keep ratio's 4:1 on days and 6:1 nights for med surg. 1-2 in ccu and postpartum 2 mom/2babe for each nurse. Thanks for your thoughts :)

CIWA: OK to reassess in less than 4 hours?
I was always under the impression that you needed to recheck AT LEAST every 4 hours but could recheck sooner. For example, I come on for my shift and always assess CIWA with my nursing assessment then recheck in 4 hours if patient is fine in the mean time, in 1 hour if they need a prn follow up or at any point it becomes clear symptoms are emerging that would score them to high enough to get a prn medication. Is it wrong to do more often than the set schedule? In my hospital setting I get the occasional detox patient and am not in a specialty setting. Would like to know what other nurses are doing and hoping I'm not totally off in my nursing. Thanks so much for your input!
