  1. Hi everyone- I am new to this forum and have a question. I am in the fourth week of an accelerated RN (not BSN) program for students with a bachelor's in a non-nursing field that is 11.5 months. I was looking at some practice NCLEX quetsions online (ordered Saunders review, waiting for delivery) and it looked like there is a lot of phramacology on the exam. Does anyone know about what % of questions are pharmacology? We do not have a specific pharmacology course, we just go over meds as we do systems. We basically learn the name, class, and generally what the med does. We have a pharmacology book for reference, but even if I studied it all the time there is no way I could remember all of the information. Do you think I will just learn throughout the year about different meds, or am I in trouble? If you can't tell, I am very scared about school. Thanks.
  2. Hi everyone- I am new to this forum and have a question regarding APRN and RN salaries. My mom is a nursing supervisor and has told me that although APRN's have more education, sometimes RNs make more money because of overtime shifts, differentials, etc... Is this true? I really want to become an APRN, and will be starting an accelerate program soon to be one. That just does not make sense to me though. Where I live, starting APRN's will make high $60k/low $70k. Thanks.

Hi- I am new to the forum and have a question for everyone. I will be starting an accelerated nursing program soon and have a question about nursing pay. Where I live, nurses start at about $28/hour. At 36 hours a week, this comes to $48,384. Do most nurses work a lot of overtime? I always hear how nurses make "such great money", but $48,384 is hardly great money. How much could I realistically make my first year as an RN? Thanks.
