  1. Many thanks!! I agree with your advice about my personal labor and delivery experiences, that was 20+ years ago and everything is different. It's a miracle my babies survived :), everything is so different now. Thanks again for all the info
  2. I've heard pro's and cons for the critical thinking class. A few of us created our own "skills camp" over the summer vacation and practiced IV skills, feeding tubes, sterile fields, colostomy care, etc. and between the 4 of us we were able to critique each other and discuss improvements etc. My school had a clinical class over the summer for approximately 2 weeks but I was unable to attend. We also have a lab that is available to us at school to practice. I'm sure you're not alone, try finding other students for your own "skills camp" Good luck
  3. Whew, I figured out how to post a new message. Applying those critical thinking skills. This is a great site. I stumbled upon it last night researching for OB medications. The web can be wonderful and so frustrating at the same time! Anyway, I'm stumped. I need to complete my "common OB medications" and I can't seem to find dosages, routes, and times for medications such as MOM and docusate sodium,(antepartum) morphine, dilaudid, mefoxin, postpartum. They are not listed in the drug and maternal newborn text and spent forever last night looking on the web. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This site is fabulous, wish I found it last year.
  4. I too am an older 2nd year nursing student. The summer vacation went all too fast for me. Last semester was a nightmare with my clinical instructor but this semester I feel will be better. I feel for you not having older students in your class. I am fortunate in that aspect because there are several over 40. I'm having a little difficulty navigating this site. I haven't figured out how to make an original post instead of replying. I'm starting OB and have meds to look up and can't find the dosages for postpartum anyone have any suggestions? Guess I'll attempt an original post with the question. Hopefully I can figure it out!! Hang in there fellow student!! Only 8-9 months left and we're there!!
