Hello, Things are terribly tight in the Boston job market for nurses. I just left BIDMC after 9 months (child care issue) I did not have to take a personality assessment at BIDMC, but I did during an interview at the Brigham. If you are considered for employment at BIDMC, they send you an email and then you forward it to your references. The references then respond to some specific questions and send it back to BIDMC. I would contact the nurse manager and let them know how interested you are in working for them. If you have concerns about just showing up to speak with them, you could just show up and leave a note and a resume with the unit receptionist for them. I would also follow up with HR. Good luck!

I agree with the "too expensive" theory. Steward has several new grad positions posted on their site. I think they are all for Good Sam in Brockton. MGH was hiring new grads for their periop program. It is sad because of safety issues for patients.

Would it be possible for you to work in the pre-op or holding area? The patients could benefit from your caring andcomforting ways to prepare them for surgery. Good luck!

I am an ADRN and have worked with some LPNs that have more on the ball than some MDs. You are a real nurse, and don't let anyone treat you otherwise. Sometimes the ADRN puts up with the same nonsense for not having a BSN. Don't let negative people get you down. I'm sure there are plenty of places to work where you will be appreciated.

I've been a nurse for 14 years and have done med-surg in the past. I just finished a perioperative nursing certificate program. I don't believe that you need floor nursing to work in the O.R. I met plenty of great nurses in the O.R. that never worked on a floor. No matter where you go there will be mean people wanting to eat you. Hopefully you will learn to ignore them. You should work where you will be happy. It is great to have the 1:1 that you get in the O.R. Congratulations and best of luck!

I have not done the RN refresher. I am currently enrolled in their RN peri-operative program. I have been very happy with it.Good luck!

Hi, Have you tried Northeastern? They have a 10 week program that includes 120 hours of clinical experience. I think that they are supposed to start one on Jan 29th. Their # is 617-373-5474. Good luck!
