pcsing to hawai
Greetings everyone, I was wondering if anyone could help me with a transportation question. I am new to the military and right now I am currently at OBLC and am trying to arrange transportation to TAMC in Hawaii. My report date is for January 2nd. I will be done w/training here on the 14th of December and would like to go home to upper michigan for Christmas and leave the next day for my new duty station. I'm dropping my car off at Dallas VPC to be shipped to Hawaii so I can't drive home so I wanted to see if I could schedule a stop back home on the way to my next duty station and then just pay the difference of the plane fare. I went to the local Carlson Wagonlit agency on base to see if I could arrange for this and they said they didn't think they could arrange for me to fly home because the airport near my residence isn't a major hub even though there are connecting flights from several major airports like o'hare and detroit. They also said that they can't schedule any flights from the 22nd to the 31st of December and told me that I would have to leave either the 21st and miss the holidays or fly out on the 1st of January. I really would like to be home for Christmas but I don't want to stay until New Years Day because 1) I don't want to blow through that much leave right off the bat because I have a couple of important events this summer (weddings and the like) that I would like to be able to take time off for and 2) due to the winters in upper michigan, it's very possible my flight could be cancelled or delayed and I don't want to have to be showing up late to my first duty station. I've been having trouble getting back into contact with carlson wagonlit because they close before classes are over. Would anyone happen to know if the army would reimburse me if I purchased a ticket on my own or know where I could be directed to for answers to my question? Also, I was curious as to why they blacked out that whole week for possible flights. Do stations prefer not to have inprocessing for that week? If anyone could help out, it would be greatly appreciated. Have a friend here who is in the same boat as I am and we don't know where to go to for help. Thanks so much!

getting ready for basics
Hi I'm heading for basics and I have a quick question that I was wondering if anyone could help me with. It says that I need to bring my oath of office. I recently received my commission for active duty but received a reserve commission about a month prior. Do I also need to bring reserve commission oath? Thanks so much!

working as CNA until NCLEX
Hi, I graduated this May from a BSN program. Currently I am working as a CNA while waiting to take my boards. After taking the NCLEX, I was told it takes about a month for your results to be mailed to you but that they acutal have your results right after you take the test. I was wondering if anyone knows if I can continue working as a CNA until they mail me my results or if I can only continue working up until I actually take the NCLEX. I don't start my nursing career until the end of summer so I would like to continue working at my current job as long as I can, so I have some sort of income coming in. Thanks

army weight requirement
Hi, I plan on joining the army nurse corps and will be going down for my physical in a few weeks. I am about five pounds over the weight requirement, I was just wondering if this was going to disqualify me or if I get flagged or anything like that. Thanks so much.

army nurse training
Hi- I'm in my last semester of nursing school for my BSN and am currently looking into joining the army nurse corps. I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me how training and patient acuity in a military hospital compares to a civilian hospital. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

nurse candidate program
Hi, I'm a nursing student considering the nurse candidate program. I spoke briefly with an airforce recruiter regarding the program and am also requesting info from the navy. I was wondering if anyone could provide me with some additional information about getting into the program. Specifically I was wondering how many people they take into the program each year and if people in NCP qualify for loan repayment program. I appreciate any info sent my way. Thanks!
