I let my CPR lapse, the facility new this when I was hired. Somehow I fell threw the cracks and it's now to everyone's attention that I'm outdated. The next class is next month. I'm worried about my license, is this a requirement for Texas BON for my CPR to be up to date? I called them and left a message, they said it can take up to 5 days to answer. I was just wondering if anyone new? Believe me my facility does not care about my license, they only care about themselves, I know they would let me work putting myself in jeopardy.

Yes, but I have reference letters I would like to submit as well, I can not do that electronically (I do not have a scanner). I could also fax it in, but I run into the same problem as dropping it off, it might get misplaced. So I guess I will just mail it in. Thanks for the information!! I appreciate it. Mia98

Thanks.... I just really want to stand out, and not be another name in the pile. What to do? What to do??? I agree I would hate for them to lose my resume, I guess I will mail it in. Mia98

There is an opening for a school nurse in the next town over. My question is I want to stand out, should I call or bring my resume in person? I am a recent grad, but I just stared substituting for another school district. Should I put that down on my resume? Thanks, mia98
  8. hotflashion- I've tired some doctors offices and the jail did call me, but I did not even go in for a interview because I knew I did not want to do that. I'm about to sub for the school district and work on getting my BSN. Good Luck to you....... Meriwhen- Thanks, that is what I wanted to know...
  9. I graduated in May and moved soon after that, do to new area and my husband's schedule (we have a young child) I have not landed a hospital job yet. How long can I be a new grad? I mean what if its 2012, and I say I graduated in May......2009. I already feel I have forgotten everything I learned... I do try to read, but not like I did in school. I'm seriously considering going back to school to peruse something different, something that is better suitable with my child's schedule. Any thoughts?? Thanks Mia98

Thanks for the response, I knew about the little pay. I'm more in it for the experience and having the same hours as my daughter. Right now I work in a doctors office, I really do not want to be there to much longer. Thanks, mia98

Hi, I graduated in May, and began my first nursing job (RN) in a doctor's office. Long story but I really do not like it, plus the drive. I really want to be a school nurse. So my question is would substituting as a school nurse with local schools look good on a resume? I'm thinking about doing that until I find a position. My last management clinical in school was with the local school nurse and I really enjoyed it. So I have idea about what it is all about. Thanks, mia98

does anyone know who is hiring in dallas? i just graduated and moved here from houston; one hospital said i would have to wait until an internship program opened up. some of my classmates that are down in houston already found jobs at some big hospitals like texas women's. any help would be appreciated. thanks mia98
  15. RNindmaking, I'm sending you good vibes!!! I wish you luck with you test. Mia98
  16. Thanks Pkid, I think your review material is fine, its kind of what I did. Good Luck Mia98
  17. i thought the nclex questions were worded like exam cram, i used the book with the practice questions in them. i moved before i took the test and lost the cd. i think if you have the extra money it wouldn't hurt, but it's not the (answer) to "is this book the best for nclex?" you know what i mean? i kept looking for that perfect review book to study with and i just do not think one is out there. i felt like exam cram did not give enough info.. review material. anyway that is just my opinion. good luck. mia98
  18. Yes!!!! Thanks to God!! He helped me get through this!! Mia98
  19. 2bnurse4life4ever- i thought how it was worded was the same as exam cram; to me it was more like that than anything. i had so many review books, which was probably bad because i would get all confused. i mostly just reviewed each section. i actually lost my cd to the exam cram, so i just used the book with the questions in them. pharm was my weak point; to be honest i just tried to know the important facts about each class. my nclex had lots of pharm which i felt like i had no idea. i was really worried that i failed. please have faith and take a deep breath, if i can do this anybody can!!! mia98
  20. hey congrats to everyone who passed!! i found out today at 1:15 pm that im an rn. i would not say the test is easy; i was for sure i failed. i think it's doable though. i think the test questions were like exam cram, i mean worded the same. i would use something else to study with but practice with exam cram questions. i did use hurst when i had to pass the exit hesi. so i had left over info from that. sorry if im rambling... im trying to get everything out. ha ha.. anyway, thanks again to everyone for the kind words of encouragement. i wish everyone the best. if anyone has questions i will do my best to answer them. mia98
  21. hey i wrote on mon. after i took nclex, today i found out i passed!!! i thought the questions were like exam cram. i would not just use the book to study with though. i did hurst to prepare for my hesi. i do not know how much it helped for nclex, but it sure didn't hurt. i just want to thank everyone on this board, i have been coming here since pre-nursing student and working my way the message boards, and i never thought i would make it to the nclex board. everyone have faith, i thought i really did fail.. it felt like i was guessing the whole time. i got zero math, infection control, and a lot of basic knowledge questions. good luck to everyone, and if i can pass please have faith that you can as well!!!!! :wink2: mia98 ps. the trick worked for me and all my friends from nursing school!!!
  22. Ok, so I tried it this morning and I got the pop up message, the one that reads, " our records indicate.....contact the board for futher assistance." I will do the quick results tomorrow and will update for ya'll. I hope this trick works!!!!!! Thanks to everyone for your kind words....... I wish everyone the best and if I do pass, I will let ya'll know what I did to prepare. Its really not different than anybody's elses, but I do not want want to say right now and find out tomorrow I failed, that would be horrible. ha ha mia98
  23. No, I had no math... Which I was greatful because I hate math!!! mia98
  24. Update, I got my new password, and tried to sign up again, it stopped me right after the school code and said I was already in their records. Is that it, is that the trick??? Does that mean Im a RN?? I don't know what to believe, I hope its true. Thanks mia98
  25. yes, i hope we both did, but i just have this pit in my stomach i know in my heart i did not pass. i was getting knowledge based questions like definitions. (can i say that?) anyways that is why im thinking i failed...
