Hurrah I Passed!
Thank you all for sharing your invaluable insights and experience, i wouldn't have figured out the right methods of studying by myself...and i hope future test-takers may be guided by this truly amazing forum. @jein33: negative on FBON site. Lic. are mailed 10-15 days after the BON gets notification of passing. Lic.# can be checked online 5-10 days after testing...acording to FBON website.

Kaplan/ Mosby Cat Test
MOSBY CAT online ...got 99%-probability on my third test....passed NCLEX this week. Did you finish Kaplan QTrainer, 1 thru 7? I think Kaplan's test 5-6-7 were harder than the actual NCLEX.
-
how many hours each day, you spent studying for NCLEX?
Only you can determine how long you can last in one sitting. I personally find that doing questions/ tests in the morning and rationales at night works.

If you've ever Failed the NCLEX for RN
Don't give up...i took the NCLEX and failed (2003), failed (2004), and recently passed (Aug.2006). Answer as much questions (i used Kaplan) as you can, understand the rationales of BOTH wrong and right answers, i finished the Kaplan question trainer CD twice, like a pre and post test. Some posters would agree the Saunders and Kaplan combo works. My mistake on the failed exams was that i focused on information only (BTW, this is all self study), this time i did 2 months of mostly Q&A from different sources Saunders Q&A, Mosby's CAT, Feuer exams and Kaplan (best for analysis-type questions). Remember, THINK IVORY TOWER NURSING...then use common sense.

Hurrah I Passed!
took NCLEX-RN (Florida license) last Monday Aug.7 just checked Pearson @ 7:53am today...I PASSED...75....HURRAH!! i'd like to thank all the moderators, members and posters who shared their pre and post NCLEX experience (on various threads) , your replies helped me study harder (self study). During the exam i tried not to think abt the degree of difficulty of Q's (easy vs hard) w/c adds to the anxiety...but just answer the best i can. I'm fairly new to this forum, but i am sooo thankful to everyone. Have a Great Day!!!! THANK YOU TAHNK YOU THANK YOU

doing tons of questions, should i repeat them ot get a higher percentage?
Like you, I do better with content application than plain content review. I practiced with Kaplan QT's. My first run on the Kap QT's level 1-7, scored from 57% to 69%...reviewed the right and wrong rationales using Saunders. Second time, i got from 79% to 85%. (That's one month in between tests, i also practiced with Saunders Q&A, Mosby's online CAT and Feuer's). Kaplan seems to give the hardest questions.

is PN in US and here in the philippines just the same?
So if there's no licensure there, what are the chances graduate LPN/LVN's have of "migrating" to america or finding work here? Presuming that's the ultimate goal. LPN/LVN graduates in the US need to pass licensure exams much like RN's. And having a professional license to practice (in your native country) is a requirement to sit for the NCLEX.

Do Philippine hospitals hire PN's or LPN's? Just curious

CGFNS preparation help
Hi. newbie here. I passed my cgfns way back 2000 and practiced with the cgfns official guide almost exclusively - meaning after i finished answering the book i, started again from the beginning MAKING SURE my present scores were better than the previous (i answered the book three times over!). The cgfns guide rationales weren't enough for me so i supplemented it with Saunders' Comprehensive Review book w/c was a big help, everything was beautifully outlined and those "little pyramids" throughout the book were so handy. If you still got the time to read...I HIGHLY SUGGEST this small red book, The Merck Manual of Medical Information (home edition), its like your MS/OB/Peds/Pathophysiology books in ONE. Whenever i wanted a quick "review" of a certain disease, or lookup their "most common" manifestations, or find out what G6PD deficiency is...this is THE most accurate, simple, complete reference i have ever used. Hope this helps. Good luck!
