  1. Thanks everyone what an interesting discussion! I guess I'd better practice, practice.
  2. Thank You! I'm sure it'll take some practice. Thanks for sharing.
  3. Have been a HH CNA for 7 mo. How do you get a accurate B/P on a Pt. with irregular heartbeat? No one I ask has been able to give me a usable answer.
  4. Sorry that happened to you. Just think of the people you exposed. Not your fault. Your facilty doesn't even care about the patients!
  5. I think a written snail mail reply would be best. I think it's wierd he gave you his e-address. Maybe that's just me. Good luck!!
  6. Thanks to all who replied. I guess to get further training I should move out of HH and get into a hospital or other setting.
  7. Right now I have no thoughts of going further into nursing. I wonder though are there now or maybe in the futhur different levels of training for CNA's. If there are other training how would I get access to them. I could see there being CNA 1 or 2 etc. What do all you think or know?
  8. There were pregnant CNA's in my class. Be careful about lifting. Ask your DR. if he has any restrictions. You should be fine, if you want it go for it.
  9. Hi. I work for a home health care agency. I started as a homemaker for a year. Last fall I went back to school and earned my CNA. I like it. It's hard being new with my skills and only having nurses on the phone. It's interesting though.
  10. Alright!! This is great!! I've been a CNA since last DEC. I work in HH. That has it's own unique challenges.
  11. I know what you mean. I work in HH as a CNA. Even the office doesn't always get what we do. In my field some jobs are easier than others. When we get the "cushy" job they act like we aren't working. This patient has dementia and has family problems, or interference. She forgets she just got groceries yesterday etc. It's a real strain and I use a lot of tact. The shifts are 8 hours. Guess I'm just blowing off some steam.
  12. I just became a CNA this Dec. I'm 50! I think age makes us better. Don't sweat it. You'll by pass the young ones by when you get promotions! Go for it! Lots of luck!
  13. Sounds like you have already been giving a lot of good advice. I took my tests in ILL. in Dec. Our skills test are done in a nursing home and we have to pass 15 skills for the teacher! Sounds like you only have to use the lab. Don't worry you'll do great! Lil123
  14. Just a little CNA working for an agency. Worse yet I've only been a CNA for 5 months. The hardest thing we do is walk in to a new place, be it a home or a facility. The most important thing is the patients! Every time I leave a home or facitlity I carry a piece of them with me. Sometimes I get to see them again, often other times never again. It is so hard getting in step in a facility. We don't need petty jealousy or envy or attitude. There is enough work out there for all of us. I'm going to get up tommorow and try again to make a difference. Lil123
  15. I work for Mercy Nursing Services in ILL. I'm a CNA however. Is that the same agency you are adking about?
