More free time in school as a GN/RN?
I haven't yet started my first job after graduating, and am just wondering if most people have more free time once you start working after school, or if you had more during school.

A hospital here pays G.N.s $18.xx/hour before licensure!
I based it on new grads in the Florida panhandle (where I lived, started at $19/hour). The Florida panhandle is supposedly one of the lowest paying areas of the country. I thought for sure a new grad in a somewhat large city (cincinnati) would make at least $5/hour more than in the Florida panhandle.

Drug Testing At Hospitals
Yeah I agree. a nurse who smokes weed a couple times a week isn't a risk for their patients. Alcoholic or cigarette addicted nurses are liabilities to the patient.

1st, 2nd, 3rd shifts? 12 hour evening shifts?
I'm in the Cincinnati area.

1st, 2nd, 3rd shifts? 12 hour evening shifts?
^^Okay thanks that's what I was thinking. It's strange though becuase the nurse recruiter asked if if I'd prefer 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift. She then proceeded to say RNs work 12 hour shifts.

Drug Testing At Hospitals
If a RN gets tested with and fails due to marijuana use, will he get terminated? Or a warning?

1st, 2nd, 3rd shifts? 12 hour evening shifts?
Hi guys I'm a new grad and was wondering what exactly 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts were in a hospital the where the RNs work 12 hour shifts. I'm assuming 7a-7p for 1st, 7p-7a as 3rd, but I don't know what 2nd is. Also, do 12 hour evening shifts exist? If so, what hours are they?

But then you only go up to $19.75 when you pass the boards. As a GN, you start as an PCA2 making $18.xx/hour. I just moved to Cincinnati from Florida and the starting pay for an RN is no different here than it was in Pensacola. *** is up with that? I was expecting close to $25/hour plus difs, weekends, etc. Boy was I wrong? And the hospitial is a large one in downtown Cincy - Good Sam Hospital. Before I take this job in telemetry I'm going to look around at some of the other hospitals. I really don't know if I would even like telemetry.

Cover letter w/ application or at interview?
Hi guys, I'm a new grad and want to know when I should attach a cover letter. Should I turn it in when I initially apply along with my resume? Or after I hear back from the employer and set up an interview or whatever step is next? See, I wouldn't know who to make the cover letter out to if I'm just going in and filling out an application and attaching a resume.
