DOT focused clinic
What do you all think of opening a DOT focused Clinic? Performing mainly DOT physicals. Also employee physicals and school physicals. Vaccines and TB testing would also be offered. I am considering opening this clinic in a metropolitan city such as DC, Dallas or Las Vegas.

Is a FNP working for a Psychiatrist legal ??
Abashed I ended up accepting a job offer with a pediatrician. I was so apprehensive about doing psych. I am considering doing a post master psych course to eventually have more options as I would also like to open a dual clinic in the future.

Texas NP license
Hello everyone. I recently passed AANP certification. I am now a FNP-C . I am planning to relocate to Texas, can anyone tell me how long it takes to get a Texas NP license? I have a compact state RN license, so there should be no need to apply for a Texas RN license. Also how would I apply for a MPI number? Is this something I should do or does the employer do this part as well? Thanks

Is a FNP working for a Psychiatrist legal ??
Thanks for all all the responses. Its is very vague what APRNs can and can not do.. What about the NPs who are doing surgery with the surgeons? I know one NP who does as much as cutting open the skull for her nerousurgeon. This is not included in the educational preparation of FNPs. The lines are so blurred .. Its like a double standard..

Is a FNP working for a Psychiatrist legal ??
Hello all. I am a brand spankin new FNP . Just got AANP certified two weeks ago and graduated this past May. Here is my thoughts. I live in Mississippi.. the jobs for new grads are scarce. Most places want you to have 1 year experience. The pay in Mississippi is also fair compared to other states. I am willing to relocate. I applied to a facility in Texas, not knowing it was a psych facility. The psychiatrist wants to set up an interview. I did not think it was OK for FNPs to work under a psychiatrist. However, this psychiatrist who is also the owner, says its ok, and that he gives a very good orientation to his employees. He also said that he is an instructor and that he teaches students. He also said that his friend who is also a psychiatrist has FNPs working for him too. I have researched and see that it is possible , but what is the red tape to this??? IS this 100% legal with no fraud involved? I know that as FNPs we can work in Women's Health, Peds, and just about any other setting, but how about Psych?? I know that we cover a small amount of Psych in our program, and learn the basics of ADHD, depression, anxiety, but is that enough to work under a psychiatrist if he is willing to offer a solid training and orientation? I do not want to get into any trouble being a new naive NP. Any advice is welcome.

Dating Your Doctor
I am divorced mother of 1. He is single and never married, he has no children. I think he has a very clear reputation as being professional, and not the type to flirt with nurses. I am not suggesting I am trying to start a relationship, just curious about the ethics of it.

Dating Your Doctor
Of course if I were to engage in a relationship with this man, I would get a new doctor. The reason I said I am pretty sure he i attracted to me , is because of his behavior. My co-workers, and even the nurse supervisor seem to think he has an interest in me, without me ever insinuating anything at all about him. He is about 44; so there is about 20 yrs between us.

Dating Your Doctor
Is there anything ethically wrong with dating your doctor? He has been my doctor for 7 years. We have a professioal relationship as well, being that I am an RN. He was my doctor prior to me becoming a nurse. So what do you all think? By the way I am sure he feels the same way.

Working as a supervisor
I need advice from some of you nurses who have been working as a nursing supervisor as a long time. I am a RN workking in a NH . I am 24 yrs old, younger than anyone I work with I supervise 4 LPN and 10-12 cna at any given time. My problem is that I would like to have a good working rapport with everyone I work with, but when it's time for me to do rounds on residents, or question another workers whereabouts there seems to be so much tension , to the point I feel I am doing something wrong. They almost seem offended that I want to check their halls to make sure there residents are properly kept. How do I deal with this issue, while remaing respectful and still being professional?
