  1. In our unit we also work 7 -7 (day / night) and we are generally expected to be on duty 15 minutes earlier and invariably it can take a bit more than 15 minutes to hand over at the end of the shift. I often find I have more like a 13 hour day but we don't get paid for the additional time spent at work.
  2. Hi Matt I have been working in a 29 bed multidisciplinary ICU (in South Africa) for the last 7 years. And from experience, it really does take time to find your feet and get used to a routine - yours, theirs or anyone else's will do in the beginning!!! I still sometimes think that taking 2 patients can a much greater challenge than one because it takes some serious juggling to get them both sorted out! Hang in there!! Good luck! Liz
