Funniest Things Doctors say!
We had just started using an electronic medical record at our pediatric primary care office so messages from parents could be sent to the doctors. A mother was requesting advice from the doctor because she was going to be flying on a plane with her baby for the first time and wanted to know what she could do if the baby kept crying. The doctor replied... "Bring ear plugs and offer to buy everyone on the plane a drink." I don't think he realized that he wrote this in the patient's permanent electronic medical record...

Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
Dear Fellow Nurses, Hi there! I was wondering if any of you work in a Pediatric Hematology/Oncology unit. I am considering applying for a new graduate RN position at the Children's Hospital where I live. I would just like some insight on what I would expect if I did end up working in this type of unit. Perhaps someone could give me a rundown of a typical day's work or possibly compare it to a regular med-surg floor. I am currently working on an IMCU/Trauma unit. I find it extremely fast paced and stressful. I just want to know I am making the right decision in applying. I love peds and it is the main reason I took up nursing, but I don't want to apply for a job and end up leaving it later when I am surprised by what the job entails. Any help would be appreciated.

I took the NCLEX-RN on 8.2.06...
Hi everyone! This is my first post. I took the dreaded test on wednesday. I started off so bad because i forgot my ATT so i had to rush to Kinko's and get a copy. Luckily I had kept a copy in my e-mail. My test was supposed to be at 11:30 and they let me in at 11:45!!! I'm so glad, otherwise I would've had to pay $200 again! Whewww!!! :smackingf Anyways... I had 75 questions with a lot of teaching, priority, what to do next, which phone call to return first, infection control, etc. I don't want to jinx myself, but i felt i knew the answer to most of the questions, much easier than kaplan questions. Then i hear about people getting 75 and not passing so i'm very scared!!!! My stomach has been in jumbles ever since. Even though i know results aren't posted on the brn for at least 48 hrs, i still keep checking the site to see if my name is there! Hehehe. Thank you to all who have posted about your experiences. Many of you have been an inspiration!!! Good luck to everyone!
