  1. Well, I love people...one reason I went into the Human Services field. I do realize compassion is not going to earn me my nursing degree...hard work is and I pity my dear husband the next few years...but he is supportive and a wonderful man!
  2. hi i am 46 years old and started prerequisites a little over a year ago. i also didn't have extensive science background. english is also my second language but i was an english major and wanted to get into teaching prior to switching to nursing. take it slow in the beginning, just take a&p since it is a very demanding class. i studied my butt of for a&p 1, made an a but it took almost all of my free time to get there. i will take a&p2 this fall. gpa is everything so try to make a's in all of your pre-nursing science classes. you can do it! good luck and welcome to this site. i am taking it slow...want to observe, learn and absorb all that my mind will allow. i am proud of you going into nursing...good luck to you!!! thanks for making me feel welcome!
  3. Thanks! I appeciate the links....have several bookmarked already. Yes, it will be a challenge but I like that. I have always held the belief, if it is too easy it is not worth as much as things that provoke us to think. I am happy to have found this website! Any feedback is most welcome.
  4. i am new here. i have a bs degree in human services and work at a community hospital as the guest services coordinator for over a year . the nursing supervisor suggested maybe i should consider nursing because of my compassion towards our patients at the hospital. he told me he would hire me as an na to aquire some experience on the med. surg. wing, which would also help pay for part of my tuition, while attending the program. i have decided to do so. this up coming semester i will be in pre-nursing starting with a & p. i am 48 years old and scared as well as excited. i know this will be the challenge of a lifetime. i was fortunate to stumble on this site while looking at different sites for anatomy...etc. any advice is most welcome! i have always been an excellent student but this is different in that i have not had an extensive background in the sciences. thanks, sharon.
