New grad needs advice
I graduated in September and began working in October on a med/surg floor that has tele, ortho, and trauma....I am extremely overwhelmed. I oriented on days for a few weeks but now am on nights. Me and my preceptor are not hitting it off- she asks if I am ok and I say yes, but I think she views me as incompetent. I am always anxious and rushed, and from what I can put together I must ask stupid questions? I dont know, but one of the issues we have had is that she does not want me to do a full assessment at night (only what the condition warrants), I have tried to explain that I am more comfortable with doing the full assessment, since my intuition is not adequate and I may not be able to eyeball certain problems. She keeps making remarks like, you dont need to listen to their BS, or reminding me that shes not a big fan of waking patients up unless necessary. I agree with that aspect, but this is my license, and it is my responsibility to give the best care I can...why is it such a huge issue? Any advice would be helpful!

Drexel' s ACE program
Thanks for the post, one quick question- do you mean that you recieved that financial aid package on basis of family income, were you independent or whats the deal becuase I tried contacting PHEAA and I can only take out 5500 for the year, even though I still have more than that left in loans available to me....I supposedly still have 8500 left in loans but since there is a annual cap I cant access it all - any thoughts? Thanks so much! PS. What makes you eligible for this financial aid package?

Drexel' s ACE program
Hi everyone, I just registered here. I am planning to graduate from Penn State with a degree in Health Administration next May. I am an intern at Southern Ocean County Hospital for the summer....and this experience has lead me to look into nursing. So far my hopefuls are Drexels ACE program, but since I never had to take science classes (go figure) I need to make up all the prereqs. My senior year is going to be very difficult now and the program is extremely expensive on top of it- my Stafford loans are alread mostly maxed out so I have no clue how I am going to pay for it. Is there anyone who can give me advice, whether you have taken the program or know anything about how the aid is for these accelerated programs etc?
